In photoshop, when you custom a file size, let's say 4cm x 1cm, the file is huge? Not the correct size that you want.

How to get rid of this?

Because I'm trying to do according to the size in illustrator, so I have to set the proper measurement.

what format d u use?

a PSD format will be very large size

and 4cm x 1cm is very subjective

for example, at what dpi / resolution?

i'd rather use pixel as size measurements, and then print them to scale, or resize them to 4x1 cm at whatever dpi / reso that u wish

Pixel no problem, but when I set it to cm, it is not the same as Illustrator measurement.

Jayhan: Ok, my problem here is, i've done a work in Illustrator, in A2 size. Right now, when I set the size in photoshop according to cm measurement of a A2 (custom), when the window pop out, at the top, it show 8.xx%, but now 100%. What I want to do is, to copy & paste from Illustrator to Photoshop. (ctrl + c, ctrl + v <---). The import in photoshop you are saying is ..? I set the dpi to 50 also the same thing.

When I try to do some filter effects, my PC lag like hell. , i think the size is too huge.

Please help.

dpi - Dot per inch

because ur dpi in photoshop is bigger, so the picture import (lower dpi) will tend to get smaller than usual

what are you trying to do actually? what is it for? Large format printing? poster?
File size takes into account not only your size (width x height) but also your DPI.

i.e. Your file, 4cm x 4cm with 150dpi and CMYK, can be 1.53mb, but 4cm x 4cm with RGB is only 1.04mb while same size in 300dpi, CMYK can be 5.5mb. Final size of file also varies. If you save it in TIF it will be larger compared to EPS (with jpg encoding).
