u used toolkit?
if so u cannot OTA, cuz i bet ca use 1 step all,
aka 1 step push CWM, root and unlock

CWM is custom recovery, thats y u cannot OTA and fail.

Root or unroot will not affect OTA, after OTA u will be unrooted.

Unlock/lock will not affect OTA, it just means u can mod stuff (unlock) or not (lock).

then why u complain if u survive OTA with root?

OTA with root will survive if you are using super user with survive mode on
(where OTA will not unroot, because before OTA, superuser will temp unroot itself)
or u used some app to help make the root survive.

and i doubt u did an OTA with CWM as Your recovery sector
IT WILL FAIL, unless u can prove with a youtube video, showing u booting fastboot >CWM >reboot >OTA >success
then I will let u meet me and i take u kopitiam
or else dun bring any confusion to the new users, tats unless u want to help them answer questions

and by the way, booting and flashing superuser after OTA does not count as survive root or OTA with CWM in.

Hate to say this but we need to hammer some principles here
OTA will not be successful and will show a red error if you had done the following:

-your phone is with a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
-you moded your system files or any other mod
-you flashed a custom kernal
-you flashed a custom rom
-pressed 1-Click for All in the galaxy nexus toolkit (any version)

if you did any of this then don't complain cannot OTA

u dun nid flash 4.1 over, cuz it will wipe clean ur system..

go into toolkit and select the option flash stock recovery and then u're all set.

Your phone will not OTA if u don't meet the requirements if-
-your phone is with a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
-you moded your system files
-you flashed a custom kernal
-you flashed a custom rom

if you didnt do any of the above, theoretically you can OTA without a problem

not really extreme mod. some easy customization as below:
I'm using these.....
1. apex launcher
2. CNA custom rom
3. MetroStation icon pack
4. Lustre icon pack
5. Organizer Drawer.

steps:
1. extract MetroStation apk and change the NavBar icon
2. online search 'X' nexus icon and invisible icon.
3. edit wallpaper with left and right menu background.
4. apex launcher apply Lustre icon pack, hide label. 9x6 grid.
5. Groups shortcut added from Organizer Drawer with MetroStation icons.

Appears to be the most straight forward method. The more gangster one will fastboot oem unlock -> fastboot flash recovery clockwork-touch-6.0.1.0-maguro.img -> fastboot boot clockwork-touch-6.0.1.0-maguro.img -> flash CM10. That's what I did with my N7. hehehe

I see we trained (particularly my fault for writing the main core guide doh.gif ) a bunch of people wrongly...

Not knowing what they are doing, they continue and just flash root etc..

in the end they wan do something and duno what they did previously doh.gif

then when we diagnose, they said they didn't..

then they would be categorise as their hardware problem and deemed special case.. doh.gif

thanks[thanks manquote=springfall,Oct 25 2012, 11:58 AM]
4 possibility
- SR on (very unlikely)
- golden chip set not in your phone, cannot take the clock speed
- need more power (volt set too low, impossible if SR is on)
- the Trinity kernal you flashed is not stable on higher clock, flash another 1

u can turn off SR by entering in terminal emulator

su
SR off

something like that or use trickstermod or trinity toolbox

*note turning off SR will increase battery consumption and decrease battery hours
thats unless u know how to minimise voltage use for each clock

And so are gone the days of bricking as well. Is this a win or lose situation depends on individual... There's still the battle of fully (full S-OFF) unlocking the bootloader for HTC phones.

I personally enjoy the fact that bootloaders are unlockable legitimately now. Devs can concentrate on the more crucial part of making the device better. [Like instead of wasting time sawing off the padlock of a house, now can concentrate on furnishing and building crazy penrose stairs.]

The guide is probably for people who don't want to be on custom ROMs? Though I really don't see the point to stay on stock. CM10 is light years better than stock. Latest updates merged within hours, instead of waiting for a week to get that OTA. Then no need worry about whether version number correct or not before flashing OTA.zip.

Ya think Google is fast with pushing updates? Ya ain't no playin' with CM yet.

the thing is the they totally no idea wat they did to their phone...

they select all in one option in Gnex toolkit to root

but in reality, that option install root, busybox and also CWM recovery...later when the time for OTA, say fail this fail that shakehead.gif

ask them got install CWM recovery or not, they say they only did root nth else doh.gif

i remb unlocking a HTC device, not flagship some more..
like search till wan die.. stoped at cm7 no support for 9/10
totally agree with unlocking, makes no sense (for uslah, but google still needs to protect end users from data theft)

actually the guide is mostly used for
-getting from yakjuxx to yakju (valid excuse)
-unlocking (valid excuse)
-just rooting (not valid sometimes, just hear root and mistaken better... doh.gif root but no configure how better doh.gif )
-just flashing CWM (valid excuse)

there is a confusion for root and roms which is very very badly mistaken
they think itz a 1 shot custom rom +root = heaven and no problem guarantee..

and those after went custom rom, or rooted not knowing CWM is on board,
still wants OTA doh.gif

not sure but is there a option to make the note send stuff in the native android NFC sender..

most probably it is sending through samsung propirity NFC sender which the app is avaliable in samsung store only
