QUOTE(kslee79 @ Sep 29 2008, 11:33 PM) I was working on Maersk Resilient jack-up rig offshore Dubai two months ago. Recently there was a chopper crash there, killing all 7 crew and passengers onboard, including one of my colleague. The chopper crashed onto the main deck upon take off after losing control, then fragmented and fell off into the sea. Very tragic... I once was on a chopper that caught fire a few seconds after taking off but landed safely and we all escaped. Luckily for me and the rest of the crew that the fire sparked early. If it broke after a few minutes later, we all could be dead. The incident happened in Miri a few years back with the old fashioned and outdated Sikorsky chopper. I wonder why they are still operating this vintage chopper to transport loads of human being. I did not just quit my job byt also left the O'n'G sector for good !

QUOTE(lightonokira @ Jan 8 2009, 08:05 AM) err guys where to start if i want to get to this kinda career? interesting you can start by working with Geoservices. Although the salary sucks but there you can learn almost everything, you need to learn and know not just your job but others as well. It's part of your duty to know almost all operations. With this experience, you can jump to other company after about three years very easily.

QUOTE(mancy @ Feb 28 2009, 02:02 AM) not just that. Geology from UM, UKM or Geophysics from USM or Physics from any Uni also can but it is more to exploration & service. There's a lot of activities in exploration this few years & definitely in another 10 or 20 years. until the reserve is empty, all OnG will be jobless.

QUOTE(mancy @ Feb 28 2009, 12:05 PM) that won't happen especially if ur into service company but servicehands rely on the sales performance from their client.....it's like a chain reaction.

QUOTE(Vervain @ Feb 28 2009, 12:57 PM) if the reserves are empty, they'll just explore more. you know that wildcat exploration will cost billions and I won't be surprised if the price of petrol per litre becomes RM100/L
