I would advise all who plan to go Taiwan with a tour agency to please be careful if you want to deal with Golden Deluxe Travel Sdn Bhd.
I went there with my wife and 2 other friends. We spent close to RM3000/pax for their 7D6N Round Island package.
FOOD - They promised Taiwan special cuisine, Master Bear Resort special meal, all we got were normal Chinese dishes with white rice, steamed egg, tofu and such. The fish was not even fresh and we always did not finish it.
For 3K tour, I expected a little better.
ACCOMMODATION - Promised 4-5 Stars, at best, only 1 or 2 hotels were satisfactory. At best, I can only give one of them 3 stars, the rest were just plain shabby.
TOUR GUIDE - The worst. He spent a lot of time talking about specialty store products, lingzhi, jade, pearl, royal jelly, fengshui, of which he will get commission for. He does not seem interested in tallking more about sights and culture of Taiwan.
Other Issues:-
He cut off one part of the itinerary as he said it will take a long time to travel to that place and suggested other places close by to save time. Then we spent more than 2 hours that day in 2 specialty stores listening to sales pitch. We saved the time for him to bring us to more specialty stores?
He was supposed to bring us to the Martyr Shrine to watch the changing of guards ceremony, but he was running late for the hourly ceremony. Instead of waiting another hour and going someplace else, he told us that the starting part don't need to watch and said watching the later part was enough. Want to save petrol and time? To go more specialty stores?
He brought us to Feng Jia night market at 4.30 PM! The night market only starts to be lively around 7 PM. When we asked if we could go back to the hotel ourselves, he told us the journey will take 2 hours and too expensive by taxi. So we followed the tour bus back, and guess what? The journey only took half an hour...
He brought us to FIVE specialty stores and actually had planned to bring us to SEVEN stores. Four were not listed in the itinerary. We skipped out of the LAST TWO only because we told him we are not going.
He got upset at us after the fifth store and raised his voice to us, scolding us for not buying anything from the stores, and saying it looked bad for him.
The tour guide's name is Liu.
If you are still planning to use their services, you have been warned.
