hi all
this my itinerary for last week trip:
Returning home to Malaysia
Cleveland---->Chicago via American Eagle
Chicago (9:05PM)---->Beijing(11:30PM) via American Airlines (11 hours flight)
Beijing (1:30AM)---->KLIA (7:40AM) via MAS (6 hours flight)
LCCT (1:05PM)--->Miri (3:10PM) via Air Asia
Beijing has same time with Malaysia.
My agent had arrange all this tickets for my husband and i.
what happen is, he fail to notice that once we arrived at Beijing airport at terminal 3, we need to go to terminal 2 to check in for MAS.
Terminal 3 and 2 is 15 mins distance.
The MAS counter in T2 will close strictly 1 hour before departure and I was given just 1 hour to do the whole procedure plus waiting for public transport in one hour.
Taken from website search:
In T3:
Arrive at the International Arrival Level at 3F of T3-E → proceed with transfer procedures → pass through the Transit Inspection in special passage in the east or west → take special elevator downstairs to International Departure Level at 2F of T3-E → catch an APM mini-train* to arrive at the international Baggage Claim Area at 2F of T3-C. Later, passengers should make a factual declaration to the Customs by completing a Declaration Form. Finally, you could leave the T3 airport by bus or cab, both of which are available at 1F of T3-C **
In T2:
Enter Departure Room → proceed with international flights transfer procedures at the D-I Transfer Counter → go to the Transfer Hall → check boarding pass → go to Customs, Immigration and Quarantine → go through the Heath & Quarantine Inspection → pass through the Exit Frontier Inspection → accept Security Inspection → accept Customs Inspection → Waiting & Boarding
Sum it up all together, all this procedures could take 1 hour more or less.
My agent only put 2 hours gap (and we need to check in 1 hour before time to Malaysia).
so what happens?
We missed the flight and we had to rebook a new tickets plus connecting flight back to miri.
I want to ask opinions, who should hold responsibilities for all the cost? we had to bought new tickets+pay expensive private cab+overnight at hotel.
As you use a travel agent, it's their responsibility to advise you and arrange the proper connection for you. this my itinerary for last week trip:

Just curious, why did America Airlines did not do through check in for you? Were your American Airlines and Malaysia Airlines ticket issued separately?
