Refer xda and search for root. Chain fire is auto root but ain't working for me not sure why. Using xiaolu cwm and seems good. Once my lappy on I give ya the link.

Is like when you turn on your phone, it will scan your media etc. Scanning for new stuffs. It burns your battery a bit and if you want to turn that off, download rescan media scanner from play store. That app will enable you to scan the media manually. However, need root I think.

Rooting is totally up to you. Trust me that without rooting, your phone is fine. It is just for those who want best out of their phones.

Totally not compulsory.
