ended.... my iphone4 is used 3years.. i want to change it now before it ends it life.

3 years? I thought it was launched mid-2010? " .... was released on June 24, 2010, in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan". Unless you bought from those countries, it has only been just past 2 years.

Before it ends it's life? 3GS is still running and kicking for many users. Your iPhone 4 has many years to go before it ends its life, unless you end it yourself. All you need to do is do one or several drop test.

One reason I can think of is because in Malaysia, only telcos can bring it in. I am convinced that this is also controlled by the ministry. Afterall, all telcos belongs to their cronies anyway. It's a way for them to dictate that you need to get a plan from them to buy the phone. In most countries where it comes with a plan, the phones are a lot cheaper. Here in Malaysia, the phone price sold by telcos is not a lot cheaper, yet they need you to sign a 12-24 month plan.

And with such control, I am sure telcos are bargaining with Apple so that not only they make money from the plans, they also want a piece of the profit via the phones. So, Apple do not see Malaysia as a priority since Apple makes lesser than if they launch it in other parts of the world where you can buy it without plans. At least that's my guess.

sorry to burst your bubble, everything s dictated by apple, even the launch date.

Sorry to burst your bubble too. Read and understand my comments. Launch date I agree is dictated by Apple. I am saying why they delay is because it isn't as lucrative here because they have no control over the telcos. Not a fact but a possibility.

Sighhh ...

what u mean by isn't as lucrative here?

Nothing actually. It was just my sarcasm towards Malaysian telcos which all belongs to Govt cronies. Anyway, I was just thinking that any country where there isn't an Official Apple Store, Apple has no incentives to launch it at those countries first. Why waste my stock on countries where telcos wants control of how phones are sold and with plans? Even our Apple Store doesn't sell it when there is a new launch of an iPhone, as far as I recall. Is it because they don't want to or because telco struck a deal to say that only the telcos can sell them when launch? Just a hunch lah .. nothing serious sweat.gif Think nothing of it.

Are u sure that iPhone doesn't sell in MY Apple Store? Are u trying to say that Local Telcos > Apple ? If i not mistaken, there is a special requirements provided by Apple to be followed by the telcos... There's no way for telco to break the rules from Apple... Just my two cents...

Read my post again. I am referring to new launch of an iPhone. I remember because I tried for the iPhone 4. Last I recall, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S wasn't available till many months later or after the hype has died down. Even when they did, I think it wasn't the full range of the 16/32/64. Again, last I recall ... perhaps you remember otherwise.

And I am saying Apple do not see the need to give priority to Malaysia, merely because we do not have an Official Apple Store here. So, when I say that, how do you interpret that Telco is bigger than Apple? It is Apple's decision when to launch in any country. By delaying the launch here, is that not my way of saying that Apple is still in control?

I doubt Apple has any say in how a telco wants to sell their plans. Apple may be a big corporate entity, but it doesn't mean they can dictate how other countries wants to sell their plans.

Your assumptions are as good as mine.

I am in awe of Malaysians who really love their rumours, guesses, past history, other country launches and etc. Just wait for the official announcement.

It's not like if you know the actual date now, it's going to make a difference to your life. If you intend to queue like fanboys, I am confident that sufficient lead time will be presented for you to do so when they launch. So stop; "I heard from someone/A reliable source says/a friend working in telco says/a dog says/a cat says/a cow says" ....

If you can't wait, then just opt for other smartphones out there if you're desperate for a phone now. Stop being so impatient. And if you can wait, that means it's just an upgrade and not an urgent necessity. Seriously, have a life peeps. But I guess to some, iPhone is their life .... real sad actually.

Btw, is this thread annoying you?  sweat.gif

The thread doesn't annoy me. I too am waiting as my wife is looking to get one. I just don't see a point to assumptions and guesses. It will go no where except to increase post count, time wasting and perhaps at most, keeping hopes up.

It's just that, I'd rather have the official announcement. Isn't that the most accurate to know when it will be launched? I frequent this thread looking for a reliable source/fact so that I know when and how I can purchase one for my wife when the time comes.

I don't doubt logic. But this kind of logic is still at best, an educated guess.

actually you can get cheaper than that smile.gif i bought one from aussie IP5 64 gig just for 700 AUD smile.gif

Without saying that it's untrue, it just isn't possible. Upload a copy of your receipt here and let us know which Apple Store. Starting price for a 16GB is already AUD799. And as we know it, discounts on Apple products are a rarity, much less on the latest iPhone 5.

You're just misleading everyone here if you claim to buy outright. The only possible way you could buy a 64BG at AUD700 would be if you were entitled to it via a promotion or if you are on an existing plan before your contract expires. Or at best, via a staff working at the Apple Store.

Buying it outright seems far fetched. Having said that, I hope to be proven wrong coz I'd sure would love to go to that shop to purchase at your price.

man, have you ever heard www.gumtree.com.au ? i have been studied there for two years and i bought a lot of stuff from there. ask any of your friends that study in aussie, they will sure know gumtree man. go and search by urself at gumtree oif you dont believe me

Ahhh ... so it sold by those those who renewed their contract but instead of using it, they sell it. Indeed their price are lower than retail.

Hence why I said it's impossible to get from Apple for the price you are getting. Just wanted to clear the air. Thx thumbup.gif

This is what I call official. I couldn't understand why people bother with rumours for the past 2 months. We all know it isn't true if there isn't an announcement.

Hopefully, the next generation iPhone, people stop speculating again. But humans ....

Now to decide if it is worth queuing for my wife the night before just in case they run out of stock or just go to Maxis on the day itself. I can't recall, can someone remind me if Maxis had sufficient stock on the first day of launch for the previous generations of iPhone, namely the iPhone 4 & 4S?
