I'm planning to watch Joker: Folié a Deux in another 30 days so I better prepared some ammo 😆

This is gonna be my 2nd time of IMAX experience!!

@LightKeyDarkBlade @Katharsis Well thank you for the utmost responses.

To clarify more about the student fee ticket on TGV, I don't see any viable options to choose as student when I'm buying tickets via online. Is there any other way how to do so or I just fail to spot.

Didn't know that Joker 2 getting lukewarm reviews, I was scrolling thru Instagram and saw Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga getting standing ovations when the film got screened at Venice Film Festival so I was under impression that it might be good.
*
Mostly these reviewers are baiting for attention such IGN and Rotten Tomatoes. Personally, I don't buy to any of those cents but for the industry and director views', it benefits them to narrate for promotional purposes if they received positive reviews from the critics.

Let's look back at the previous Joker (2019) review (biasedly chose Rotten Tomatoes) and the outcomes out of it:
"Joker" was divisive among critics, receiving both praise for Joaquin Phoenix's performance and criticism for its dark tone and controversial themes. Some felt it glamorized violence, while others appreciated its boldness. It holds a 69% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the mixed reviews, "Joker" earned 11 nominations and won two Oscars: Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir.

Google votes (mainly voted by the watchers) holds an 88% positive reviews.
Todd Philips said "(Joaquin) literally said to me, ‘I'm not going to do this unless I'm as scared as I was on the first one.’ … He was petrified on the first movie, the way you want an actor to be. And so the reason he would not be interested in this sequel is because that feeling goes away. And then you're like, ‘What are you doing?’ We weren't scared on Hangover 2 in that way. On this movie, we wanted to be as scared. So we kind of wrote a script that we were all scared of . We kind of wrote a script that would sort of give (Joaquin) that feeling."

Not to forget that Scott Silver said this movie is one of his best creation of his career time. Meanwhile, Joker 2 received an uproarious 12-Minute Standing Ovation at Venice Screening.
Also, I saw someone in the comment said that he/she watched the Joker 2 at Venice and he/she would love to see it again on this October 4th.

I'm trying to not hook with anything related to Joker around the internet because I don't to kill the vibe (just like I did for the first one, literally saw Joker end scene photo where he bleeds after the car crash riots) before my IMAX screening

I fully believe that this definitely going to be good and stand with my stance that critic reviews are nothing but just a clown

Just wondering, which seat would you recommend from the top at IMAX Velocity for the best viewing experience that suits human peripheral vision?

Watched it in IMAX Velocity over the weekend. Yup, worth it haha. The whole film is in 1.9:1 as advertised and is exclusive to IMAX for aspect ratio. Sound was great and intense, but imo the dialogue audio level was quite low; sometimes drowned out by the bgm and considering the characters' accent, ooof haha.

Overall great. The space horizon shots and cinematography in general are spectacular and definitely excels with the larger image the IMAX aspect ratio provides. The horror and tension is great, especially the surprise in the last quarter of the film (holy shit was it grotesque). My only problem is the Xenomorphs felt underwhelming. Honestly, I would say the first 3 quarters are great but didn't excel. I really wanted to feel stressed and paranoid through it all but the film never really got to that level except for the last quarter.

Still a great Alien movie though. Brought back the horror and tension. Cinematography and sound design are top tier and again, last quarter was spectacular. Worth the go in IMAX for the immersion.

Can you comment a bit on the seats? Does it have recliners and how was it?

For me personally, my go-to rows are K, J then L. K and L are my go-to for tall aspect ratio films (priority on K). J for wider aspect ratio ala 2.39:1. I won't really go further than this as the screen is huge and won't fit my periheral vision comfortably. Of course, seat locations at the cinemas is subjective, so I would recommend you go there and try it yourself.

In terms of seat features, it reclines a bit but don't expect like top tier all the way back etc. The minor problem of this hall is the legroom is not that great, so long legs people will feel cramped.

@skylinelover lucky you XP. I started my full time job a few months back and now only limited time to watch films... well can lah, after work just go to the cinema asap. However the jams, petrol cost and physical fatigue is real draining haha. Worse more is that I can't benefit from student price anymore for both IMAX and Big; need to pay full price so wallet also sakit HAHA.

No lol. If the other seats empty and no one seating, just go and swap la haha. I did that last time during the twin seats era of Velocity IMAX. But just try those seats out if it's your first time in that hall. After the movie ends. Go try the other seats and get an understanding of your preference.

I decided to switch to K seats hehe thanks to you

Any idea why Joker is rated 16, while in the US it’s rated R (which is 18+ in Malaysia)?
Do they cut any particular scenes? This is so unnecessary...

In actual IMAX halls that support 1.43:1 aspect ratio, mainly IMAX 70MM halls or IMAX Laser Grand Theatre (GT), then ya. We don't have that in Malaysia despite having 2 1.43:1 screens of Velocity and Vivacity. IMAX GT can be installed if the screen is at least L 24m x W 18m which those both halls have (Velocity 25.9m×19.4m, Vivacity 24.1m x 18m). However, IMAX GT is expensive to implement and maintain so guess TGV not keen to go GT (yet). Max we can get for now is 1.9:1. More info discussed many pages back but tldr the laser projection we have are only single projector, whereas 1.43:1 requires two.

As far as I remember, we once had our first IMAX GT (gsc) but got closed... I don't recall what's up but yea sucks that they didn't continue the feature

They are still the first one tho, because all halls are fully 4K Laser with DA.
IOI still dual Xenon projector.

The only downside at Suria KLCC is the hall is quite small to my liking. I would prefer Pav BJ for now
