The re-opening of TGV 1 Utama has been delayed countless times this year. Now they're expecting to open in December. And yes it will have an IMAX hall.
I used to visit a few different cinemas frequently a few years ago but not anymore so I can't give a comparison. But I really like TGV Sunway Pyramid after they renovated some time ago. The seats are now spacious and comfortable and haven't had any problems with the audio so far. Before the renovation I wouldn't even go there even if its a free show. And Pyramid is just next to my house.

I noticed some movie in the showtime starts like this -> (ATMOS). What does that means?

Also, is Berjaya Times Square MAXX = 2D or 3D?  icon_question.gif

ATMOS is the audio. ATMOS halls has speakers all over the hall and even on top so you kinda feel like you're in the movie.

MAXX hall plays both 2D and 3D. No difference from other halls except it has the biggest screen in Malaysia so you might wanna try it at least once.

Whats the family friendly hall like? Do they leave the lights on and kids are able to run around?

The IMAX in Sunway Velocity is said to be the biggest in Malaysia. Not sure if they're referring to the hall or screen. Anyone tried it?

Looks like MBO is upping the game by bringing in 4D. They also have a family friendly hall with a playground. Not sure if their screen in the Big Screen hall is bigger than GSC's Maxx though.

Hey guys, movie buffs, cinema lovers, etc, big news!

The new MBO Starling's big screen is super awesome. Its the best non-IMAX/normal hall in Malaysia, hands down. Pricing at RM21-22, it has super screen clarity, powerful bass, comfortable VIP seats with headrests, huge screen and good surround (Dolby Atmos). The only downfall is, the aspect ratio of films does not utilize the full screen. Quite a portion of the top and bottom part of the screen is blank! I hope MBO can rectify it by getting a different format reel for their big screen.

They also have MX4D, Kecil and Premier halls. Hoping for someone to review it. No time and money to check them out yet  rclxs0.gif

Is the screen bigger than GSCmaxx at Times Square? I remember it was huge.
Watched Fast8 in the MX4D hall and it was kinda fun and something that you should try at least once. Besides the rumbling seats you get to smell burning tires, see some smoke, flashing when gunshots are fired, feeling bullets narrowly miss your ear, and have a bit of water sprayed at you.

GSC just opened their new cinema at MyTown in Cheras and they're claiming that their GSCmaxx has the biggest screen in Malaysia. Just a few months after MBO claimed theirs is the biggest.

I'm thinking of the best way possible to watch Dunkirk which I believe is IMAX 70mm. Where should I go for that? I usually just go to standard screen cinemas.
*
Definitely should go for IMAX for that but I'm not sure if its 70mm though. Sunway Velocity has the biggest IMAX screen here so you might wanna check that out.

why Velocity's IMAX tix prices are way lower than other IMAX hall such as in 1utama or Sunway Pyramid?

Watched GOTG2 in Velocity, I felt that the screen is too small for IMAX, thus the lower price..

The IMAX in Velocity is actually the biggest here. Never got the chance the try it out yet though. I always go to the one in Sunway Pyramid.

Is IMAX in central i-city real IMAX or LIEMAX ? because I heard in news saying it is the largest in South East Asia. Anyone here have seen it there ?
*
Pretty sure its not even the biggest in Malaysia otherwise TGV themselves would have been bragging about it. I'm no expert so I'm not sure exactly how you tell whether it's real IMAX or not but if you've seen IMAX in any one of TGV cinemas and thought that it's fake, then it's the same thing at i-city.

Surprising that TGV is not bragging about their biggest IMAX screen since everyone's been complaining that our IMAX screen is smaller than the real thing. If it's bigger than the one at MBO Starling then it must be pretty huge. The last time I checked MBO Big Screen Starling has the second biggest screen here while GSC MAXX at MyTown has the biggest.
