I'm confused here..... does iChat requires a .mac account.....?

jeezzz.... i'm so confused here....
What's Jabber and Bonjour in iChat....? can I use my existing MSN ID in iChat....? frankly, if I were to use iChat, it'll be very troublesome registering both AOL and Jabber account just for the sake of MSN contacts.... and I can't seemed to add buddies on Bonjour client.... anyone care to explain....? finally got to import MSN contacts into Jabber, but unfortunately couldn't find any blockade feature....
