QUOTE(PIMPIN @ Mar 9 2013, 10:16 PM) Recently gave away four Gars because my Dad happpened to watch them feeding and was horrified. Ranged from over 2ft to one just slightly smaller than my Arapaima. I also been bitten by them before..Sayang but he's against using live feeders hence my shift to fishes that go for pellets like the lazy Arapaima who won't take live food anymore when my worker's wife practically hand feeds him. |

QUOTE(PIMPIN @ Mar 11 2013, 02:45 AM) So far none of the Gars have bitten me or even come close to showing any aggressive behaviour towards me from when they were in grow out tank and even in pond I used to get in with 3ft Gars circling but so long as they don't feel cornered no worries. WITH RESPECT Around 18" I moved them from tank to pond and during that time in the tank they used to give me room to do water change and cleaning etc. If I take longer than usual they'd come close to sort of reestablish their space (I'm speculating) so a tap on the head to show them who is boss settled that once and for all. try hand feeding them and see they will bite or not.... |

QUOTE(genielee_83 @ Mar 11 2013, 10:37 AM) Hand feeding being bitten have the risk. i feed them with 2-3" inch lampan or keliIs the feeder too short? Are u holding on the tail of feeder while hand feeding? These two might help decreased the chances of being bitten. Beside, big fishes need to be ferocious, so why go sayang them with your tiny fragile hand. No offence. |

QUOTE(antzz @ Mar 20 2013, 01:18 PM) I want small package as well. Wanna try for my bichirs and turtle, even feeders if they take it. i have no choice but to keep them togather. i got only one pond, my tank dont fit neither one of them.Aiyo.. gars and aro rarely mixed. Separate them la bro, kesian ur aro. I already transfer puyu to turtle tank, just only because he keeps on following aro when feeding, waiting for leftovers. |
