It can be considered both good and bad thing. Positive is that it makes u a good family man by staying at home more often, negative is it binds ur movement and freedom. If not because of them i might leave home for few days when outstation. Often i'll make time for them and go home after a day off.

The challenge in keeping aquatic pets is that u hv to be more sensitive and caring. Because they cant bark or scratch, all we've to do is watch and think. In other words, we're trying to get the truth out of things. Along the process, we've to be knowledgeable, sensitive, alert and rational.

U see, keeping a tankful of goldfishes are a different challenge than hosting a various predators tank. We hv to be more watchful.

Have u got it? For comparison of price and specs, here's mine. Not so powerful but performance-wise, acceptable.

Dophin C-1600, powered 50Hz-45w. Bought in June 2009 by rm250. Operating since date of purchase until i changed to sump tank filtration. Still in good condition till now, keeping it for future project. Pic :

Roughly in the end of 2009, if i remember correctly, i changed to this pump :

Later in 2011, i changed to this brand :

If u havent tried that type of filter pump, brace urself and get ready to get poisoned tongue.gif

Basically its very simple, plug and play as u said. Currently i'm using it in filter tank, the one inside the cabinet under main tank.

I have another pump for my turtle tank, which placed in the main tank itself. I cover it with plastic ware to prevent it being bitten by naughty turtle. See pic :

Honestly, i never wana change to other type of pumps after i tried this. The only option i can think for now, is the power output laugh.gif
*
The pump need any othr equipments, lk tube etc2? Is tge mechanical filtration good? It will suck everything at the bottom of the tank? Bro, hob better or submersible better?

Okay i found a useful website to explain this, here

user posted image
Yes it requires tubing or piping works. But thats how it can be fun and interesting. Pipe as u wish, size as u want. U can even use normal garden hose as tubes, but i suggest PVC pipes. Combination of few materials can add to the excitement as well.
*
Wow! Thats a lot of wrk! Means if juz a submersible pump cn work? As in straight take plug in nd withouth any tubing or sump. Sorry, no experience in this. Haha. 3ft tank dont need that so complicated folter riteee? Haha.

Actually, its very easy. U can even use submersible pump with ur top filter. The principle is same with ur top filter powerhead pump, only with greater power.

Usual powerhead pump for top filter is usually about 18w (which pumps about 1250L/hour), while submersible pumps are way more powerful.

When my mom bought her 4' aquarium, it comes with 1800L/hour pump. Later she complained the water got cloudy very fast, until i changed the more powerful pump (60w, 3000L/H, see pic below) and she was happy with the performance. I keep her old pump for future project. Sometimes i used it to drain water from my tank, still a lot faster than natural syphon laugh.gif

Will the fish pellets sucked into the pump ? Since it has a greater power.

Side-hanging waterfall style filter. At 7W pumping 750L/hr, i think the wattage power quite low. I used a side-hanging filter for my 2' tetra tank before. Although i abandoned that tank already, still keeping it and all the accessories for future use. Very low in power (5w only), but enough for tetra and other small fish bio-loads. Later i switch to a single flowerhorn, the water became cloudy very fast, that i have to do WC every 3 days. So honestly i think u should look for more power if u intend to use it for predator fishes.

Bro, interested in NTT 5inch for rm80?saw an online shop in fb.
Kk. Thx, bro. We luking at the watt or litre/hour? Im confused. Nice. How much u bought the light?

Even if i want, the shop is very far. Dont like long distance postage, might stress the fish very much. If i find a stable one in LFS, well thats another story  brows.gif

I surprised myself that i can easily access my way to that lamp, as i abandoned it long time ago. Snapped 3 shots and uploaded it right-away! lol  laugh.gif  Was bought at rm35 on 2009 if i remember correctly. Pics :

my tank combine both system..top twin pump filter + bottom/sump filter..i used the top filter for sucking all the left overs, dead feeder,feces..the bottom/sump filter  for my water filtration system..by combining both,my water became more crystal bright and safe for my monsters..since i've lost my 2 endlicheri+white fire eel,u must put in the ammonia free material + bio rings + carbon material..u can also add on some coral stone to stabilize the pH in the water..i,ve lost those fishes from ammonia poisoning..damn..wat a suey holiday...right now, i'm using underwater gravel filter system+top system to optimize the safety of my fishes..

That was for my tetra tank, back in 2009. Now just keep it in store room. For bichirs i already hv 2 other aquarium lamps, pink and 24k gold for arowana. I have no experience at all in Tiger fish bro, u have to read more or ask around. Good luck.
Nice setup bro, very beautiful tank thumbup.gif

Where do u place the tank? Surroundings look bright with sunlight, u have no problem with algae by far? Using UV filter?

U on ur tank's light for hw long in a day? Btw, ur tank no algae/hydra growing, those green2 thing sticking on my heater, filter, glass tank. How do you get rid of thm without using uv?

I just switch on tank's light for viewing / photo shooting (Also, when showing off to guests lol). I think my tank is almost completely free from algae because not much sunlight exposure + strong current of water + filtration.

BTW who's monster is this? brows.gif

Means most of the time the fish is in darkness? @@
Led light wil encourage the growth of algae? I on the light for the whole day til nite only off. Vould tis be tge reason of the algae growing in my tank? Mine! Inspired by abg antzz! thumbup.gif bt he stil is a low end monster though. Haha. Compare to pbb, koloba etc2.

usually we on 6 hrs of lights.
And usually light is for us to see better, or to show off more.
A few hours of light for the fishes is like sun shine and darkness is like moon light. Give some drift wood for them to hide. Some birchir like senegalus, teugelsi, endli and delhezi are the show off kind. They prefer being seen by public. Others which like to hide will hide.
Tigers are very slow growers. My IT is slow. Likes to hide. But since i started my once a while lights on, it comes out more.
*
If on the lights in a longer period, will that encourage the growth of algae/hydra in tge tank? Tiger easy take care or nt compared to bichirs? Are they pivky in water chemistry? As in need 'perfect water quality' i google it, they say tiger fish is quite fragile. Izit true, based on ur experience?
