Yeah cottage cheese is quite low in protein compared to other types of cheese like Parmesan, Mozzarella, even the good ol' Cheddar. Looking at it that way they are over priced. They don't taste that good either.    Well some don't mind eating it straight like that, I can't stand it. Maybe in salads or to complement something, but not on its own.
I'd stick to Cheddar cheese. They're much easier to include in a daily diet and are practically everywhere and quite affordable. The more exotic cheese are too expensive.
