Part of this I believe is because Android is open source so it is used in many many many devices. From low end Galaxy Europa to high end Galaxy SIII. Thing about Android is anyone can own one because the price range is quite vast. Maybe not the full 'Android' experience because the low end ones normally sport the older versions like Eclair but still an Android smartphone.2012 : http://mashable.com/2012/11/14/android-72-percent/
For me I prefer my iPhone 5 because I'm so used to using iOS after spending 2 1/2 years with my 3gs. I think Samsung should stop making screens bigger and bigger because it doesn't seem very ergonomic to me. I think the Lumia and iPhone 5 designs are much nicer compared to the SIII. However I prefer an Android tablet like the Nexus 7 compared to the iPad Mini. If I had to go Android, I'd get a Nexus device. Those look really nice to me.
