1. CD-ROM Drive does not work (I hope yours do work). I have asked few friends who are using this same lappy , and the CD-ROM Died after 3-4 months of usage. COMPAQ demands RM 600 for a New CD-ROM Drive (I could get a DVD Burner or even a new PDA)
2. The HDD Thingy (Connector/ATA thing) fails if you use it a lot , I meant as a programmer , I use to delete the source code , change this and that. Be really carefulllllll , if you are a gamer , or anything which requires a lot of HDD Usage..Better be carefullll 3. It does not support Linux as the motherboard is blacklisted ,as its known for its in-famous 'Battery Drain' Issue |

Oic, nevermind. But thanks for the advice. Ya, Prasys, I agree with you. Im also getting the all 3 symptoms you stated. So bad. Although I changed new HDD but the blue screen still come out. Dont know how. BTW, do you use USB Num Keyboard? Im having trouble with the FN key.
When I want to use the Num, I have to tap Num Lock, when typing 7890,uiop & jkl, I have to tap Num Lock off. So troublesome. Sorry, im not explain it well. Pls advice. |

Well , even you send to COMPAQ/HP Center , they would charge you at least RM 2,500+/- just to "fix" those problems. I even had those problems when it was under warranty itself . I also had the same issue with the keyboard thingy. Its just tooo bad , I feel that I was "cheated". But one thing for sure , I seriously fell in love with the Pentium III-M Processor. When I want to use the Num, I have to tap Num Lock, when typing 7890,uiop & jkl, I have to tap Num Lock off. So troublesome. Sorry, im not explain it well. Pls advice. There is nothing much you could do. I would suggest you to get a new Laptop instead spending your money on reparing the laptop..But again its up to you.... |
