Hey guys, my first post in this thread. tongue.gif

Was quite keen on the Note 2 when they first announced it.

But now after reading all the reviews, it's so darn tempting.

I was using the Samsung S3 for a month previously and loved the notification LED.

Now the Note 2 has that, plus a bigger screen and the best part... amazing battery life!

Maybe I just gotta get one ASAP. laugh.gif

Sorry for this question, but is there any ROM that can make the Note 2 run on plain stock Jelly Bean ROM (like on Galaxy Nexus)?

Still really love the plain vanilla interface of the stock ROM. Don't really like Touchwiz. ><

Closest is Cm10 but now lots of bugs eg camera not working n direct phone call issues
Running nexus style of rom will mean:
-Samsung builtin phone Special features such as motion control. Smart stay etc disabled
- no default video calls possible
- mhl adapter connection to lcd tv not possible
- most Samsung widgets cannot be used
Temporary root phone replace tw launcher with nova launcher n freeze tw launcher
*
Ok. Thanks for the clarification in detail there. biggrin.gif

Guess I will just use it first as it is once I get my Note 2 later.

The even sadder thing is, there aren't many worthy competitors in the market that are commercially better than Sandisk at the moment.

So many people in my office thought I changed from iPhone to Galaxy S3, until they looked closer and saw that I'm using the Note 2.

What a pleasant surprise. I guess the design is a winner here. 5.5" in such a svelte figure. drool.gif

I check Msian model has 2 roms - both European based

Country/Carrier Date Android PDA CSC Download Kies Play Unlock Info
Malaysia 2012 October 4.1.1  N7100XXALJ1 N7100OLBALJ1
Malaysia 2012 September 4.1.1  N7100XXALIE N7100OLBALI9

If OCT release will have multi windows. Unfortunate buyers getting the SEPT release will not have multiwindows
*
Just wondering for these Malaysia sets.

If someone purchase the September release, will he/she get to have Multi-Windows in the next update (for example, 4.1.2)?

Just wondering. Anyone use Sony Smartwatch with the Note 2 yet?

Am wondering if I should take the plunge and get a Smartwatch to try.
Have been eyeing it for some time but couldn't use it before as I was previously on iPhone generation. laugh.gif

Just because of one bad case you have doubts ??
seriously there are also many cases of bad service reported from Samsung Service center - check their bad postings at the Samsung Facebook
Tell me one Service center any phone manufacturer that has no record of bad service ??? Even Apple service center had their share of bad experiences
Similarly tell me one phone manufacturer that does not produce a faulty phone
In everything there are always bad hats
Personally , 80% of my stuffs are AP sets and i have so far only 2 cases i claim warranty - one replaced motherboard ( HTC ) and Galaxy S - reflash rom. At their service center i got excellent service
Infact most of my warranty claims are on SME sets - so does that make SME sets poorer - not necessary
As long as they service me well ( infact they do even thogh phones rooted/flash) I am happy
*
This I have to agree.

Samsung's warranty isn't the best in the world, which is why I settled for AP - which relatively speaking may provide 'better' warranty than SME sets (case by case basis).

Just imagine your SME set has a problem, and SME will give excuses - don't you think that in such cases it is sort of like no warranty at all?

Of course don't use the statements above to generalize, as warranty claims depend on luck as well. biggrin.gif

Am now loving my White and don't regret not getting a grey. biggrin.gif

I was in the same boat as you before.
The titanium grey looks really sexy in photos and in person.
However, there is a very shiny gloss coating, which would mean that scratches will be easily seen.
And when I compared side-by-side between the white and grey, somehow the white looks better to me. IMHO, grey colour is better suited for S3. But of course, personal preference. biggrin.gif

Colors are really a subjective matter, what i'll be sharing in the spoiler is why the white>grey to me personally, doesn't apply to everyone of course, just sharing to those who yet to buy and cant decide.

Yes, I agree with you bro!

The titanium grey GN2 doesn't give the 'expensive' / 'classy' look. It sort of looks like a typical large-sized phone (remember those HTC devices?). That's why I could never really accept the look of titanium grey on GN2. cry.gif

Totally diff. Rmbp is of lovely anodized aluminium while Note 2 is plastic. Like heaven and earth. Hehe

I remember last time when I use GNote 1, I told myself I won't buy SGS3 UNLESS it has better battery life because Im not sure if I can get myself to get used to smaller screen. But SGS3 proven to have better battery life AND better speed. Now GNote 2 is out with better battery life and better speed and larger screen and more features than s3, I really want to jump... but such a waste if 16gb only available, I'm scared that I will over-utilized the storage. Everything in GNote2 is good (very good), but really waste la if I cant install all the hd 3d games that I bought.  cry.gif If S4 is out, I won't jump if I have GNote 2 32gb, but will jump if GNote 3 32gb is out.
*
You are just like me. I used to be S3 owner before. Then when Note 2 announced, I knew that I just have to get it! Its like the S3 which has been moulded to perfection. brows.gif

The Note 2 feels like it is just right in the palm. Note 1 feels rather clunky. And the battery life...my God it is so GOOD. The only battery contender is the Razr Maxx but the Razr loses out in almost all features to the Note 2. icon_rolleyes.gif

bro, can upgrade already as above ^. Haha.. you can have ur multi window now  rclxms.gif
*
Luckily Samsung rolled it out fast, else I may be forced to root. laugh.gif

The new shortcut for multi-tasking is very useful. Can easily change between apps without pressing the home / back button. But the apps are too limited. Hopefully Samsung will support more apps for multi-window quickly!

just get the Note II and enjoy yourself, leave those jargon behind.  Based on uncle Benny's assessment, there is no need to go the custom rom for this Note II.

I feel less urge to go for custom rom now.  Only rooted my Tab 7.7 on stock ICS.  The only reason to root is to use Titanium Backup.

can be done with using tegra overclock iinm.

In Note 2, under Power Saving Option - there is an option to limit CPU speed. Have not activated the Power Saving features since the Note 2's battery life is already very impressive. drool.gif

Umobile in melaka run on gprs. In melaka, your only option is Maxis or Celcom. If want 3G coverage, Celcom is best. If u want stable speed and in town area. Maxis is the best option. I using maxis, can get HSPA+ sometime

Digi run on EDGE, and as you know theirs speed is quite bad especially out of klang valley
Thanks
Have you tried it? brows.gif

like Cyclone1 said - be a big spender, you will be invited into the Club.  Previously i have 6 lines in my account, total bills about RM350 and above every month.  So i got the invitation into the Club.  But even if i already shifted most of my siblings' lines from my account now, left only my wife's and recently ported back my own from DiGi, with total bill of only RM150-170, they still keep my name in the Club.  Just check it with my NRIC at the MOC's S3 and Note 10.1 offer, i still eligible for the offer.  Hopefully there is really a good deal waiting for me.  biggrin.gif
