Drop by this place because not sure which part of my car is making random aeroplane noise, they removed alternator from my car spin it, told me bearing is good therefore its not the culprit probably Ac compressor, then they removed the back plastic cap, show me carbon is worn, OK change it then air blow the whole alternator, pasang back then start car, done, I asked for bill my expectation is more than 50 less than 100 cos carbon only cost a few bucks to my surprise the uncle charged me 120, 10min job, don't require dismantle whole alternator+ few dollar parts for 120 🤔

I apologize if I have offended this thread , my car issue did not solve afterall still got aeroplane whine, though you are right could save me more down the road, I'm driving 5 year old elantra with 100k kms, i also would like to say that my carbon are worn but not fully worn maybe still got 40-50%?, its a precaution maintenance, its already out might as well replace it, was also my mistake that I should have asked for pricing before proceeding, as for my alternator is really easy to access and take out from car not like those complex or compact engine compartment like Subaru or others, also the carbon changing part just need to remove the plastic casing on the alternator does not require you to remove the whole alternator assembly that requires knocking prying and necessary tools, if that price is standard price then I appologize, I'm selling my car off, maybe I have the that kind of mindset, selling car already why still want to fix it, but for the sake of the next owner
