Just bought MBA 13 from SenQ today. My first Mac after 22 years of Windows/DOS. Any suggestion list of free apps deemed to be necessary in a Mac? TQ

guys...is it still a good time to buy a macbook pro non retina now or maybe about 2 month from now?
*
buy if you need it, even if they update the mbp the difference is minor.
only difference is processor and hdd

ya.....but it can be upgrade to ssd right...?
*
i dont think they will.
if they do, there isnt any difference between MBA and MBP.
people would rather get MBA because of its weight.
to have all MacBooks on flash doesnt make sense, the price of flash is still too steep and there are consumers that are not willing to pay that much

why do you need i7 if you're not rendering or photoshop?
for your use, i5 is sufficient.
and MBA sounds more suitable, more value for money in my opinion.
13" rMBP is overpriced, the only sellable rMBP is the 15"

THanks for the website..

but im trying to say, from the serial code, what info that will show me the MBP is new, not 2nd hand or any counterfiet item
*
by going to Apple's website you can check the date to know when the warranty ends using your serial number

so do u mean if the warranty still got 1 year, thats a new mbp right?

do i need to register first for the warranty for new mbp?
*
yes you need to, if you don't it will follow the date it left the factory.
so the warranty could be shorter

Hi guys, I'm using Samsung 840 Pro SSD on 15" MBP mid 2012 model. I face a problem. Shut down takes less than 5 seconds (3 seconds usually). Sometimes, it takes 15 seconds to shut down which is unusual. The OS version is 10.8.2. I use TRIM Enabler to enable TRIM on Samsung 840 Pro.

I notice this problem in 15" rMBP as well. OS version:10.8.2

Does anyone face this problem like me?
*
that has something to do with the OS, both of my rMBP acts the same way.
but after doing a VRAM reset, it shut downs instantly smile.gif

I did VRAM reset after installing 840 Pro SSD. VRAM reset doesn't improve shut down process. Do you use Chrome as your default browser?

i'm using safari as default browser

yo guys, im in a bit of a dilemma now. should i get the 13" macbook pro with retina or 15" macbook pro non retina. portability is not an issue as im using the 15" macbook pro now. question is which is more worth it? better screen or bigger screen with better graphics card? im using the laptop for uni stuff with occasional bootcamp for engineering applications. cheers
*
suggest you to get 13" MBA if you want a 13" rMBP.
13" rMBP is too underpowered in my opinion.
if you have the budget, the best option is 15" rMBP.
i've been using it since it was launched, best Mac i've ever used biggrin.gif
