P2P throttle starts again since days ago

Hari Raya soon

time to start heavier p2p throttling for bandwidth to  handle incoming heavy load

right now I'm back to VPN, continuing full speed torrent downloading
*
Which VPN are you using? Works for IRC too?

cause it seems like downloading from xdcc bots also slow down to max around 5KBps since like last week.

Only direct download works normally.

How's your torrent speed guys?
Still crawling?
*
Yes, max at 15KBps

Also, connection to US and Europe got worse for me after the so-called maintenance.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I've been using VPN for the past few days, that's why I'm asking.
Us and Europe connection seems fine for me though hmm.gif
*
Using vpn now and got full speed downloading from bot located in Europe.

tmnuts can filter even IRC connection too?

So far, I only know they blocked port 6667.

If you really into torrent, want a reliable vpn and don't mind to spend a little then http://bolehvpn.net

If you're a desperate poorfag like me then http://www.vpngate.net/en/
I never tried using it for torrent, I only use it to connect and download from xdcc bot cause for some reasons I get crappy speed downloading from bots in US and Europe since last week and only hit max 5KBps.

Tried restarting modem to get different ip range, 60.x.x.x, 175.x.x.x, 110.x.x.x, 115.x.x.x, 124.x.x.x still getting only 5KBps.

If that's the case, get a cheap VPS ( http://www.doesbuyvmhavestock.com/ still has stock for USD15/year VPS), set up an encrypted bouncer in it and you can download from XDCC bots without worry of being throttled by TM.
*
Thanks man, but I don't know how VPS work, like how to setup and stuff. Hell I don't even know such thing exist to be honest.
Also which one is the USD15/per year one? I can't tell which is which and what they do. sad.gif

FYI, same thing happened last year but a simple restart to get another ip range fixed everything and back to full speed. But this time I don't know if its just me or they really throttle and filter like theres no tomorrow, everything won't work except for direct download.

It is the OpenVZ-128MB package, which is a single-core VPS, 1-Gbit shared pipe with 500GB transfer limit per month, and 5GB space.

Install ZNC bouncer on it, configure it to connect with SSL to your favorite IRC server(s) (Rizon and IRCHighway support SSL connections), you configure your IRC client to connect to the ZNC bouncer via SSL, then configure the bouncer to proxy all XDCC traffic through it to your IRC client, and TM will not be able to sniff what you are downloading.

Pretty simple, once you purchased one, install your OS of choice, debian or anything.

Use putty to ssh to your vps, login information to your vps should be provided in prove of purchase email.
Once you're in, type this in console

CODE
sudo apt-get install znc

CODE
adduser <yourpreferredusername> (after you typed this you will be prompted to input unix password, just input any password you want)

logout/exit ssh session
login as newly created user
CODE
znc --makeconf

aand you're done. There's plenty of guide how to setup as well.

Thanks guy, that really help a lot.

btw, a little update. Just now was trying my luck and got full speed downloading from a bot, I don't know where its located though. So maybe its the international link with the problem on tm side? Or could it be my location? I'm in Kuching btw. Just a wild guess.

I mean if tm capped every port used for IRC 6660-7000, everything should be slow.

Use high port and a good torrent client which support full encryption

I recommend deluge
*
High port with deluge works.
Thanks. biggrin.gif

That's 1 problem solved, xdcc transfer still crawling though.

I'm from Kuching, Sarawak, upgraded to 4mb few weeks ago.

Streamyx speedometer always shows my speed about 2Mbps to 3Mbps, speed climb up slowly. If I test using speedtest.net, it shows me about 3.2Mbps to 4Mbps, ping is about 70ms to 90ms average. Wonder why speedtest.net can report higher speed than streamyx speedometer...

For the file download testing, I found out that if download file on single thread, can only get speed about 100kB/s to 200kB/s, hardly reach above 300kB/s. If download with multi-thread using download manager, speed can reach about 320kB/s to 450kB/s.

Anyone having similar experience? Is that considered normal?
*
I'm not in Kuching currently but I have a speedtest result back in August for your references.

In my case, I got an average ping from Kuching to Cyberjaya around 40-60ms and average download speed above 400kB/s and can hit up to 550kB/s. Just a few hiccups every few months where the connection slow down for everything for no apparent reason and it can last from a few days to a whole month.

Don't let the problem goes unreported, you can get rebate from doing a slowdown report you know.

Really? Usually I just wait it out till it finally return normal. Thanks for the info.
