seriously it doesnt matter what client are you using for streamyx, if you're unthrottled, you're considered lucky to be one.

I had the exact same problem. My dl with utorrent were previously 400-500kb/s. its now <10kb/s. i also notice if i were to run utorrent, all my other downloads from filesharig sites, youtube, gaming slows down all together.
I tried running utorrent on my other pc at home and but the outcome remains the same.
I then download bitcomet and the speed was 400-500. But the connection to trackers failed, and it took a while to obtain seed/peers from dht and peer exhange.
I wonder if streamyx is able to detect utorrent users and has resorted to throttle the Entire net connection of that user?

Only put maximum 20 peers for your utorrent, above than that might higher the modem's load which cause the massive slowdowns.
*
Possible but unlikely. My modem is 6 months old. ive been using utorrent without any issues with maximum 100 peers without any issues until 3 days ago, my speed crawls at <10kb/s. Ive tried to change ports, lower the bt.connect_speed and increased and lower the net.max_halfopen values. After restarting my modem, the speed was ~50kb/s for about 5-10mins then drops down to <10kb/s. The result was same with the other pcs in my home. was using utorrent 3.1.3. I tried updating it to 3.3 but the results still remain the same.

I then tried out Bitcomet and the problem was solved. However, it couldn't connect to the trackers and rely on DHT and peerexchange to obtain peers. but once it manage to get adequate peers, the speed gradually rose to 400-500kb/s. Im not using a proxy to connect to the trackers. I am not sure is trackers were being blocked or the connections to the trackers were poor due to the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable damage.

Bitcomet are banned in most trackers because most of bitcomet user and bitcomet itself is hit-run type and this is bad for every torrent community, that might be the answer why your bitcomet unable to connect to the trackers.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to guide you to speed up your torrents download, I'm just saying lots of connection is bad for your network since it will slow down everyone else devices. 20 connection is more than enough for common 4Mbps connection.

Back to throttling, there's no connection between damaged cable or anything else, it's just system glitch which allows you to temporarily bypass the throttling system, it was unclear due to what, so far as long you keep your connection on, there's a chance you'll accidentally bypass the throttling.

perhaps u misunderstood me. I was merely sharing with everyone the possible solution of slow torrent. I never asked for for ur guide to speed up torrents as my speed is now excellent for a 4mbps (for now at least *fingers cross*).
I agree Bitcomet is commonly banned in private tracker, but not all public trackers. as i previously mention, i was unable to connect to trackers But later manage to do so via proxy (for trackers only).

Perhaps u were unaware of the recent submarine cable damage along the SEA-ME-WE 4 recently? The cable damage could have cause connection to certain trackers located at europe to be poor. But it could also be streamyx making changes and have started blocking the common trackers used by torrents.

try using deluge... im testing today get 300-400

Seeing that gunjack also manage to overcome the slow torrent issue by using an alternative torrent.. it could still be possible streamyx has directly targetted utorrent. afterall utorrent is widely used by many ppl. there maybe some settings or connection from utorrent that triggers it.

Anyway I'm not here to argue but to share my experience with the sudden slowdown in torrent that started less than a week ago and how i overcome it.
I wont guarentee it will work for everyone but u can give it a try.

Connection to europe always has been poor in my experience. I totally forgotten that TM DNS blocked the tracker, just simply change to google dns, you should have no problem connecting to trackers afterwards.
*
Actually... i always have been using google dns (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). The slowdown, and inability to connect to these trackers only started a few days ago. There were no recent change in my utorrent or system files at that time.
i agree the connection from MY to EU has always been poor. but its has became worst recently. most probably due to the cable damage and/or repair process.

Hmm, so you only got this problem only when using bitcomet? That's.. odd. Well my prime suspect is the client ban but it wouldnt state it's timed out, it will came out as torrent client is not allowed list or something.

I said utorrent, not bitcomet...

guys.. i have a question.. more like a technical question, hope someone can actually answer me.. sad.gif

im using unipack 4mbps

so i stay in a condo, and ground floor there is this something like a port room.. that day i saw some tm contractor came and done something inside the room, but im not sure what did he done.

and since yesterday, i tried to torrent, the speed of each torrent never goes up to 5KBps. i tried speed testing, it used to be 3.4mbps, but now is around 2.5~2.7mbps. tried using proxy, each torrent barely goes up to 10KBps.. those torrents are healthy tvb drama torrents.

so im wondering, is the technician changed my configuration inside the room, which blocked my torrent and reducing my speed? i mean like possible that unplug off my cable and plug it somewhere else?

They have started throttling p2p programs again.... several areas has already been affected since earlier this yr.. their gradually throttling everywhere possible..
there is a way around it though.
