I am planning to get a laptop with Centrino M technology, but I know nothing about the WIFI, can anyone please tell me what additional device is needed for WIFI connection, do I need to buy any card or antenna? Do i need to register an account with TMnet (hotspot package)?

Centrino laptops have the WIFI chipset built in, as you'll find out when you see the laptop. Always make sure what's in the package - if you don't know what you're looking for you may get swindled, and that's not cool.

As long as you can see the WIFI logo on your laptop, you should be good to go.

As for connection, you don't HAVE to register a hotspot account but it will help if you need to get online a lot and there are no free spots near you (which will happen soon IMHO).

Hope this helps.

Do you mean as long as I have a new centrino laptop, I can just bring it to any hotspot area (which is free) and it will be ready for me to surf anytime?

Centrino itself is supposed to be an Intel Pentium Mobile with Wi-fi built in. Then as for hot-spots, currently the free ones are in STARBUCKS which is by the telco TIMEZONE. Other like Airzed and TMNET requires you to buy a prepaid card.....

actually u dont need to protect your notebook when u turn on wifi cause u already have WEP/WPA protection!!!!If u do need u can try Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006

Does this software provides full protection? including Antivirus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, and etc?
If so, why there are still so many individual security protection tool in the market? like Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security?
