Will I have any issues with customs by buying a Kershaw Chive or Zing from the US? They are currently on sale on massdrop.com. Looking for a knife for my camping kit right now.

Hi,

Wondering if this thread is still active.

Looking forward to get a knife from https://ltwrightknives.com/

Anyone actively importing knives here? Looking to buy heirloom quality knives.

Indeed this thread not active anymore. I now have a hobby for knives collection and its hard to find good and exotic knives in Malaysia. Two shops I found recently sell good knives

1. Outdoor gear shop in SS15, Subang Jaya .http://www.ogm-shop.com/

2. Corezone in SS2 PJ.http://www.mycorezone.com/main.php?section=product&page=product_view&category_id=8&subcategory_id=2&display_start=0

Anyone here knows other shops?

The OGM shops does not list down all the knives in ther website but if you visit the shop, will find a lot more models. But parking at SS15 is damn terrible

I came across another websites: http://eco-sports.com.my/index.php?main_pa...x&cPath=284_117. According the their website, their situated at Taman Melawati, KL.

I have also came across the website you listed and all i can find on their web is very limited products and are old generations. Moreover, the price is so much more compared to price is US.

This knife collecting hobby in Malaysia is so cold~

I am so tempted to order knives from the USA but am so afraid of our local custom's regulation.

I've read the "CORROSIVE AND EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCES AND OFFENSIVE WEAPONS ACT 1958" and these two description listen below are considered illegal.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

My understanding:
- flick knife means switchblade which is automatic and is springs out by a press of a button that is attached to the handle.
- the normal knife most of us would normally get is the manual/spring assisted knife which requires you to push out the blade manually 20-45 degrees before the spring kicks-in and assist the blade to open up fully. And the law didn't state that spring assisted knife is illegal.

I've found some really informative information here too regarding auto and assisted knife: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Spring-Assist-Knif...04238620/g.html

I've seen a few other thread having users said they ordered from overseas and are waiting to receive it but then I can't find any updates after that in the forum. Unsure whether they received it or not unsure.gif

Anyone can shed some light on this? pls? rclxub.gif

There was recently another drop for Chive and Zing also but I hesitated due to the uncertainty of our local custom ruling. sad.gif

Do you have any luck for your camping kit?

Interesting to see so many knifes lovers in MY. All using expensive knifes too... thumbup.gif

I carry a cheap Leatherman. Serving me well but the launcher sucks. Tears into my finger skin every time I uses it.

have ur knife closed yet?

it has liner lock as what i can see biggrin.gif

u may google for that.. basically push the thing underneath the blade edge with ur thumb and slightly push the dull edge with ur index finger while keeping the other three of ur finger off the slot where the blade will be folded into

hope this helps smile.gif

Rust? rclxub.gif It is made of 420HC Stainless Steel. Mine has no sign of rust. Stains maybe.

You are right about the thumb. It gets really sore after some time. Can't emphasize enough that the launcher is really stupid.

i bought an emerson commander around 4-5 yrs ago from ebay...shipped direct from US and it's not being hold-up by kastam. Got through to my house address within 2wks time.

But it was quite some time ago..so rules might have changed...specially with GST and what not nowadays..
