I know these issue have been asked & discussed many time but just that I am very new to these so I though I open a new thread to get some help for you expert guys around.

Hope you can help as I have just bought an original Xbox 360 Kinects for my kids but it seems that I couldn't register the billing information after I have done with
gamertag profile.

It is due to it doesn't regconize Malaysia accounts?

And when I register a new profile, it comes with a free trial one month gold membership but it needs the billing information to use as well
And also the box comes with a 3 months of gold membership too which they provide a code to redeem which I assume it cannot be use as well.

Can someone enlighten me on this as without the billing info registration, I couldn't use most of its online function, right?

Is it that I have to register a new USA account in order to use the service?

Xbox live has never been officially launched in Malaysia. So, don't bother using Malaysian info.

Xbox live is available in many other countries. Each will require a different account to access and online content (i.e games offered) vary btw regions. The more popular accounts u should choose to create are UK, US, SG, and Japan.

Check the first post by TS, use the billing information provided to create accounts for different regions. If u want fresh billing information, just google up any address of the respective region and make use of the postcode, phone no.

Gold memberships and Achievements are account-specific. So, despite having many accounts, u need to choose one to stick to to play games to store ur achievements and go online for multiplayer (gold membership enables online multiplayer).

In short, if u choose SG as ur main account, redeem the 3 month free gold membership for the SG account. U will be able to play online with friends using the SG account for the next 3 months and all game achievements accumulate in the SG account. When u switch to a fresh US/UK/Jap account, u cannot play online (until u subscribe to Gold for these accounts). Achievements are 0

Billing information

I registered mine under Singapore. Well,you can change to UK address if you want. Just get it from the Internet. Especially the postcode. I did that.

So,choose Singapore.

You can't register the billing information as there's no Malaysia in supported country list. The nearest country is Singapore. If you happens to have Singapore-based card, then you can use that. But since now there's maybe chances that your account can be hacked due to circumstances (weak password for instance), it's suggested not to tie in a credit card.


Just use a fake Singapore address (I use Microsoft Singapore address ) for Singapore account, US address for US account and vice versa. After that you can redeem the three months Xbox Live Gold code.


If there's no need for your kids to play online, then you do not need to use Xbox Live Gold. Xbox Live Gold is needed for multiplayers, party chat and to get exclusive contents on Xbox Live Marketplace such as discounts over contents and/or game demos.


As mentioned above, you don't need to register a US account in order to use Xbox Live Gold features. Even if you have US account, you can't use apps such as Crackle, Hulu Plus, and other US-only services without some tweakings. The benefits of having US account is that it got more contents on Xbox Live Marketplace compared to, say, Singapore account.

For Xbox Live Gold subscription, you can redeem the code on any account, SG, EU (PAL) or US account. There's no restriction.
