prob: unable to get itunes to recognise new drive.

1.original drive, is c drive. now c drive no more space. old itunes library was in c drive, my music folder.
2.new drive is f drive.
3.followed advice found on net to use itunes>advance>change to f drive, itunes media folder>consolidate.
4.after itunes finished copying files, able to update all apps in itunes.
5.went back to c drive, deleted itunes in my music folder.
6.connected ipad2 but it failed to recognise new drive.
7.itunes then recreated itunes folder in c drive>my music folder.
8.gave up, don't know what else to do.

anybody can help me?

Hi ed2345 and diesel vdub, when I consolidate, the files start copying to the new location and part way through I get a message that the copying failed (-50) even though all of the files are already in place in the new location. Should I just delete the itunes in the new location and manually copy the files again? But in itunes, I have indicated that the new location is on the external hard drive but itunes seems to ignore that and still looks for itunes in the original location on my internal hard drive. I disabled the location of itunes in the old location (by labelling itunes as "itunes old") and it tried to create a new itunes at the old location and prompted me to import music and videos from a CD or other source. I hope I am making sense.

Best option is by using JUNCTION.EXE on Windows to symlink folders on C: to F:

1. Create a folder called iTunes on F:
2. Open Command Prompt (enter cmd at Start > Run).
3. Type 'junction C:\<existing iTunes folder> F:\iTunes

Once done, u can move files from C: to F: and iTunes will find the new drive automatically.

However, ensure iTunes is not running before u do this migration.
