hi, just about to start my 1st saltwater/reef tank, been having freshwater aquarium for quite sometime..
i was asking at east aqua ikano bout the reef tank setup.. is the rm12 per kg for live rock is the normal price or can i get cheaper some other place? any other shop recommended near damansara/subang area?
The setup will be in a 2 feet aquarium.. so far without chiller my aquarium temperature is around 27-29 Celcius.. i have an aircon in the room if the temp gets over 30 celcius..

QUOTE(alexlow @ Nov 12 2009, 07:50 PM) prefer rowa phos, NO3 absorber .. AZNO3? expensive stuff, change water cheaper and better Added on November 12, 2009, 8:00 pmrm7-9/kgs use dead rock, dry, it will weight a lot much lesser and you save up $ to get a botol of microbakter. dead rock parasite free & you can drill more holes, epoxy and scape it better, well this depends on individual prefer but this what i will do for my future tank. temp need to be stable especially if is reef tank, for long term need a chiller & best a sump tank. oh i see.. dead rock can be use for coral also? I heard that to save cost, mix live rocks and dead rocks.. where do u get this dead rocks? thanks

QUOTE(alexlow @ Nov 13 2009, 11:27 AM) can get from LFS, mostly aragonite base, it will be white color & totally dry, very light weight other like tufa, lava base which is more harder & rich in mineral which make it strong, so depend how much rock u gonna put, stack, big tank than should consider harder rock coz you don't want to have rock slide. small tank just aragonite will do, got $ can get artificial rock. don't recommend to go collect rock & use if not familiar its for a 2 feet tank.. issit the rock that is around rm4-6 per kg? i saw at Pet's Family in Taman megah selling those kinda rocks.. looks like this live rocks.. if i want to use those rocks.. i need to clean them first rite? read about few techniques..boiling,drying, water+vinegar ...

i just read on the net bout acclimatized freshwater molly to put in marine tank.. i did that slowly 2 days ago.. and it works.. i have a black molly fish in my marine tank.. so far its swimming happily... and eating any hair algae i have on my liverocks...
from what i've read.. molly and guppy can be acclimatized to saltwater but guppy is abit slower to do... i acclimatized my molly in 3 hours.. slowly adding salt to the water..until the salinity is 1.021

just got a free 3ft tank.. the measurement is 3 X 1.5 X 1.5 ft... which would be a 50 gallon tank. The thickness is 6mm.. would it be safe for marine tank?
It does have 2 braces at the top which i heard helps to prevent glass bending.. dont plan to fill the water till the top though.. maybe up to 1.2-1.3 feet of water..

yeah.. 50 gallon.. way upgrade from my 15 gallon.. but abit worried whether the 6mm glass can hold the saltwater pressure... the guy who gave it to me said it was used as saltwater sump with the braces on.. but was converted into freshwater tank hence the brace was removed. But he did gave me 2 braces..

QUOTE(silverbolt143 @ Dec 30 2009, 12:01 PM) Ooohhh, poor damsels...why u guys hate it so much I read damsels are notorious....however lots of LFS put them with other fish and it seems they live happily together.... Perhaps can buy a bottle and pour it in separate 10 gallon tank then breed it is it possible?? But need to feed with phyto rite... i bought 2 damsels when i started.. at first they're ok...but after they really settled in.. quite aggresive if a new fish go to its 'area'... decided to take them out.. which is quite hard too...
