Ittsg, Please don't scared people from getting Marine fish tank as they're dreaming of it...
Actually, keeping marine fish can start with smaller tank like 1.5ft (length) X 1ft (width) X 1ft (heigth). Cost only RM400- RM500 to buy the equipments.
There's no need to buy such a big tank just for starter, unless you're doing some big business & have $$$$$$ to buy big marine aquarium set to keep in your house.

yeah..that correct, make sure to fully cycle ur tank before add some live stock..
take it slow to prevent money loss of buying live stock..
just put the bacteria..what water conditioner u use??just get rid of chlorine in water..
water change about 1 @ 2 a week..
shout test the ammonia and nitrates..
ammonia should be at 0 and nitrate should as low as possible..
when ammonia in 0, ur tank has cycled..
and u can add live stock...
*
Hi... I heard that we can put live rock eventough ur tank's water is still new.
But we should add only Coral Reef & fish after 2 weeks of water circulation.
And also, we shouldn't change water within 1 month.

Is that true? hmm.gif

I see, thanks for enlighten me... thumbup.gif
i thought FISH ONLY and FOWLR is two different things  laugh.gif

How long can marine fish live without filter/air pump/skimmer???
Any of you install somekind of back-up battery or power generator to support your marine tank equipment in case of blackout???
*
No worries, man. Have u ever face the blackout problem more than 1 day? The Fish & corals actually can survive in the tank within 24 hours, they r tougher than goldfish laugh.gif

I think, nobody ever brave enough to keep the marine fish without air pump/ filter/ protein skimmer. It's because if they do, the fish might survive but not beautiful grown.

Ur tank size is about 1.5ft (length) X 2ft (height) X 1.5ft (width), if i'm not mistaken tongue.gif

Yes, u can add small blue tang (2cm -3cm), some clown fish (about 2 pcs) & some damsels (better add 2 only)

Wow...that's quite long. The sales person at Ikano fish centre told me just need 3-4 days...
*
Many of the customers misunderstand the sales man (east aqua) said that they can put fish inside the tank after 2- 4 days....
Actually, what they mean is you can put fish inside the tank after 2 days the salt water prepared & kH was tested "OK" but just 2 fish only (damsel).

Of course, you can just follow as other experts doing... putting the fish after 1 month or so....
By the help of putting the Life Rock & "nitrifying bacteria" to the tank might let the water cycling faster.

Anyhow, good luck & have a nice day.

Hi, can somebody help me..i bought a blue tang yesterday from Aquatics International. Bt the fish always hide himself in the shallow rock. he wont move or eat..its like hes terrified.. he will chase off other fish who near him. Im afraid he wont last long =(
*
To all the forumers here.... i'm not actually offence you guys, but please do not try to buy fish from Aquatics International without doing the research.

Most of us will getting interest on the "rare species" of Marine fish or creatures, but most of us failed to keep them long as we expect too.

Please test your tank water condition first, especially kH & ammonia test for your water instead of salinity level.

Hope you guys enjoying keeping Marine or Aqua Reef Tank.
Adios~

hehehe...
actually, mostly the "rare species" only sell in Aquatics International such as octopus, sea horse, shark, etc.

many of my friends bought from there but do not know how to keep them properly & they didn't ask for more information about the "rare species" information from the salesman there.

anyhow, sorry if i have offence u.

Hi Megat,
I think u should upgrade ur filter to Canister filter which it has more space for ur bio ring to built up ur nitrifying bacteria more stronger... cause i believe ur water condition is not good enough, where ur ammonia or nitrites level is quite high.

If u see ur fish scales or fins rotes.... that mean it hasn't adapt to ur water condition or it has been infected by white spot. u should quarantine ur newly bought fish in a pail of fresh water for about 5 minutes before moving to ur main tank.

There should be no problem for u if u're moving ur bio ring at ur filter & there's no effect for ur coral sand & life rocks just for few minutes.
Have u tested ur water before buying new fish> such as kH & ammonia level?

canister filter... depend on ur budget... if not, i will recommend u Eheim classic 2215.
yes, u should add a cooler fan to reduce ur water temperature if u're not buying a chiller because u're tank is FOWLR only.

does ur tank fixed with a protein skimmer? protein skimmer function is to extract un- used protein from ur water. in addition, it can help to provide more oxigen to ur fish besides ur filter system.

Hi bro,
The RESUN canister filter price might be cheap, but for me i would also won't trust the brand.
If you want to buy a canister filter, i would suggest another brand (China/ Taiwan made) for you which is QQ (model: 1000) or Dolphin (model: i don't recall it). The price for each items might be around RM200++, please ask for warranty period since some shop might give 3 months for the item bought.

Since your tank water kH is 7, you need to increase the kH for 2 degrees for 2 days.
In the period that your tank is building up the beneficial bacteria, you can add life rocks & 2 fish (Damsel only) to boost up. Also you need to put API stress zyme.

Yes, the shop keeper might correct also by buying NO2 test is better than buying ammonia test. But the test result will show the higher level at the mean time your beneficial bacteria is in progress. Test NO2 level for every 2 weeks, i believe that the NO2 level will drops to 20mg/l & until less than 5 mg/l.

If that happen, you can start to buy some fish from your lfs near by.

Hmm.... do the fish eat so far after u bought?
How did u put the fish into ur tank?
Do u put it straight away after reach home or u put in a pale of tame water for about 5 minute (quarantine) after reach home?

If u didn't put any corals... u can try to put melafix/ pimafix into ur tank, but not too much (the dose is half of ur calculation). Try to put it for 3 days, after that try to change 20% of the water.
After 2 hours of WC, u can test ur water salinity, kH & No3.

Hope this can help.

try to look after it for 3 days.... i think some how it is not ur tank problem but the fish u bought from the LFS is having the problem, the fish can't adapt with ur tank condition.

it's somehow luck...

cheers....
