btw planning another sea fishing trip next weekend, as the water will start to turn GOOD, anyone wanna join? early morning till 5-6pm, Saturday, if cant book Saturday then Sunday. i need to know how many ppl going, then decide how big the boat, the bigger means the further we can go, and more comfortable, and hope i can get this uncle to bring us to all the secret places he mentioned. its a fibre speed boat most probably, not the wooden fisherman's boat, and life prawn as bait is included. anyone interested pls add ur name down here, ntg is confirmed yet cuz i cant confirm the budget as of now, but wont exceed RM150.

Trying to find cheap and good rod got jigging and bottom lor.
And another cheap and good rod for apollo action.
I already got a 4000 size for jigging and a size 30 reel for apollo.
Problem is,.. i really dunno what rod to buy, light jigging like the new storm Erito so expensive.
The Storm micro jigger also not bad within budget but dunno can pair or not.
Ah boy into me the Daiwa med jigging rod, RM408,.. nearly pengsan hahaha.
Else i saw the Abu conolon also not bad at RM2xx.
Kepala pusing pusing la,.. dunno which rod good and which one not.

No trip la,.. just wanna stand by. Might wanna go Pulau Angsa. Cheap cheap 1 day trip.

Laguna still mozzie infested or not ?? later go kena dengue leh.

Added on October 8, 2012, 7:14 pm
wahlau I no fishing rod lehh.
I also might plan something with ah Hon to go pulau Angsa. lemme get my cheap cheap rod sin.
*
em.. abu conolon i find not bad la, can take out the amplifier and become shorter n play bottom oso, so kinda multipurpose a bit, i got mine for 180 from kepong tackle, if not mistaken, only thing its a 1 piece rod. i saw from another forum, someone pulled out a 20kg GT with abu conolon pe1-3, not sure true or not, or u can go for pe2-4, 200++, kepong tackle, very good liao, unless u wanna go sailfish fishing, hardly need anything stiffer.
as for apollo, any rod will do bro, just make sure u wash after using
pulau angsa, i managed to talk to 1 old timer while at royal selangor yacht club, he say unless u very experienced and know where to go, else pulau angsa no fish lerr..tat uncle got personal boat, quite big, managed to pull out 7-8kg kurau thumbup.gif but i forgot to take pics....

need some advice,..
Can i use those normal fresh water rod with heavy poundage like 10-30lbs for bottom sea fishing? or Jigging ?

Or does it have to the a jigging rod, those kinda short and stumpy rods.
*
u can do bottom with any rod, but reel must careful a bit cuz will get rust if not meant for saltwater
jigging usually ppl prefer shorter ones, easier to jig, and bottom there longer to kepit at ur ketiak

What do you have? the 1-3? I like the length of the 1-3 (6'1). The 2-4 is 5'6 i think. Seems abit short.
As mentioned was gonna match it up to my Saltist 30 with 30lb line. Reckon the 1-3 would be ok?

where is this?

Added on October 8, 2012, 9:21 pm
Bro we were like 4 meters away from each other smiling smiling like school kids. hahaha Black car right?

Added on October 8, 2012, 9:21 pm
You're the one with the cap then? Smiling smiling too.. lol
*
yup having the 1-3, i like the fact it can be dismantled at the handler there, turning into a normal rod which can be used for bottom as well
saltist 30? no idea bout tat reel but it's best to pair with 5000-6000 reel, according to the shopkeeper in kepong tackle

Bro where is the place bro...would love to join....but the only spinning rod i have is a bass sterra 10-20lb and a aeronos 4000 reel...cukup ka?...1st timer here........
*
we going out from port klang royal selangor yacht club, if less people we might just fish around port klang, even though near, the boatman is quite good and hopefully some nice fishes from his secret spot, if more people means bigger boat, we might go further out, deeper and bigger fish
ur medium heavy rod and 4000 reel will do fine, unless anything unpredictable. if interested u can put ur name in, as i said ntg is confirmed yet, i need to know how many ppl going first. Thx

Pulau Ketam? Sounds like fun! Which boat is this may I ask?
*
i cant recall the boatman's name as its my fren's contact, but going out from royal selangor yacht club, fiber speed boat, and like i said, if more ppl means bigger boat, i need to confirm the size of the boat, then he will let us know where to go, not limited to pulau ketam only, but mostly play bottom

what max depth are we looking at ? next weekend means 20 / 21 Oct ?
*
i think max 30ft only, definitely not deep, but boatman say dont look down on shallow water, over the years and most recently 2 months back he pulled up 50kg stingray from less than 10ft water, had to pull it back with the boat drool.gif but i guess this time our target is red snapper, like he told us 7kg above.. hope his stories are true though

I just went to Uncle Benny's blog, the PB seemed pretty big compared to CWS.

http://peacockbassheaven.blogspot.com/

I think it is just give and take lah, size of fish VS number of bite.

like satu ringgit said, 10-20lb rod will be good, i find some cheaper rod below 100 actually feels much better than those 100-200 branded rod, really, pick the rod, put the reel in and feel for ur self.
as for reel, if saltwater is a must, make sure it wont get rust if kena saltwater, u can check with the shopowner. someone in this forum recommended me ryobi arctica, go for 3000 or 4000, never regretted having it, somemore not so expensive, definitely below 200, go for a rod around 100, but u have to fork out a bit for a better line though.

unfortunately we couldnt get a bigger boat, so the biggest boatman having now can accomodate 6 ppl nia, including boatman.
we're fishing around port klang area, and his so called personal spot of good sizes red snapper. cost around close to 100 a person, definitely less than that, includes life prawns and boat rental only, drinks and food sendiri kautim, i myself will get some tesco prawn and a bit of kembong as bait as well. viox, if we count u in, ngam ngam, do confirm if u really going ya. thx

Think I need a 1-3 or 2-4 casting rod for my Saltist (30lb braid)
Might as well wait now as the Sailfish season is closed. sad.gif and see whats new next year

Added on October 15, 2012, 8:18 pm

Yeah i got one with a bump too. Didn't realise thats the male.
Didn't use poppers? I'm a big fan of poppers and visual fishing. And these PB's hit it with gusto man.

Added on October 15, 2012, 8:19 pm

Yeah I'd be keen man. As I was trying to organise but finding info on the net about how too is like drawing water from stone.
*
u get quite a lot info on OFB, I've done some search and what i know is there are rooms for rent for RM30 a day, with air-cond, u can fish from the lighhouse which is stagnant, or u can ask ur boatman to bring u nearby for biggies, shud be a comfortable trip. boat alone will cost slightly over 100 per pax. apollo for bait fish, bait fish for biggies, never been there but have been reading quite a lot bout it. anything else u need to know bro? if next month the rain slows down, then we can organise a trip

Sorry there is abit of info but it's generally in malay. What I found anyways. And my Malay not so good these days anymore.

Boatman prices I have no idea. Does the boatman stay with you as well?

Sounds interesting nonetheless.
*
Boatman stays with u, tats y if no fish on the lighthouse u can ask him to bring u somewhere else. Boat rental around 1k-1.2k, can fit max 10 pax

Added on October 16, 2012, 1:27 pmBro takeshiru, this saturday port klang trip u on? If not have to find someone else. Pls let me know ya, thx

I don't do as much saltwater as fresh plus the east coast season is closed now sad.gif so possibly wait for abit before buying. Unless we go OFB, then again I'll just borrow my brother's rod. heh
Thanks heaps for the info
