there are comparison made between those 2 and in terms of overall IQ the OM-D do just as good as NEX-7, losing out on DOF and video and maybe EVF quality. on the other hand you gain IBIS, weather sealing, and much more lens choices on the OM-D.
depends on which one appeal you more. some may feel uneasy on smaller sensor, it'll always give you a feeling of having lower image quality but OM-D seems to do just fine. but as sniper mentioned, if you're going for Sony, might as well wait a bit when the NEX-6 to come out and see. |

Go to shop and handle both cameras. See which one sits in your hand naturally

OM-D will be a legend, it's a badass camera for all occasion regardless of nature elements, especially in Malaysia...rain on me....
nex7 will be overpowered by nex8 etc,... your choice? |

As far as I'm concerned, the E-M5 has 4 main advantages over the NEX-7
sensor based image stabilization water resistant body autofocus speed lens selection How important having all your lenses stabilized is, depends on how often you shoot stationary subjects with slow shutter speeds (assuming you don't want moving subjects blurred). I don't do that very often and if I'm occasionally in that situation I don't mind switching to a stabilized lens. That's one of the reasons why I have the E 50 F1.8 OSS on order. A water resistant body could be useful, but I would imagine that my NEX-7 is not wholly without gaskets that protect the interior from moisture either. It would be nice if the NEX-7 offered me more confidence in this regard, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Having a very fast and reliable autofocus can be especially useful in situations where subject movement coincides with a shallow depth of field. The NEX-7 is not as fast as my Panasonic GH2 used to be, so I've had to adapt my shooting style: I need to anticipate where my subject is going to be and prefocus there. Using the central focus area and recomposing also helps to speed things up. Finally, it's also easier to manually focus lenses using "peaking" in the NEX-7's high resolution EVF. Those are also a huge benefit to anyone like myself who uses legacy glass for any significant amount of time. It's certainly true that Micro Four Thirds offers a much greater range of lenses, with some very desirable ones in the pipeline. Whether what the NEX system has to offer satisfies your needs depends on what those are. At the moment, I'm shooting quite happily with 2 primes, the excellent Zeiss E-mount 24/1.8 and an M-mount Zeiss Biogon 35/2.0. Sometimes less is more. |

Believe it or not the NEX-7 is also weather sealed. But why Sony doesn't advertise this is beyond me.

Same case here and I had settled for omd. Love the kit lens too.
Actually, Nex7 is my first choice but the kit lens tend to bend terribly. Unless like what they've said, you're going to use the legacy glass. |

OMD is a good camera and cheaper compare to Sony. The body also look retro. Pair it with the 12 and 45. It will be fantastic.

I have had these dilemma before and end up having OMD and never look back. Wide variety of lenses (especially great primes), weather sealing, magnesium body which make it feel tough and many more.
