I read quite a fair bit these few days on how HSD works and understand that hybrids can run on battery power alone for short distance. However, I still do not understand that why I do not see battery power (green arrow coming out of the battery from energy motor screen) kicks in to assist between 60km/hr-90km/hr even if I drive on flat highway road. Based on my observation, I can only see that when I going uphill and when I drive above 90km/hr. Having said that, sometimes that also powered by the fuel alone (orange arrow coming out from engine from energy motor screen).
Don't be upset over this. The only time when the motor kicks in at high speed is during slight downslope and you tap the accelerator ever so lightly. If you ever switch to the 5 min consumption, you will understand that our ecvt is giving us very good FC. When cruising on flat at around 90 to 100, we can get around 25km/l to 35km/l, you don't really need any assist with motor when you see that FC. The assist is good when we pick up or crawling during jam which waste most fuel.
