Complain from an owner in Tribe forum. Is it anyone from here?
really a big disappointment, the prius cabin isn't that "silent" as i expect it to be.. the car looks pretty solid but in fact NOT! my 3 months old prius dashboard start making noise and some in the luggage area.. when i first got my car, i find that it is very bumpy and there are already some noise too.. my first thought was it might be the tyre pressure too high..so i head towards a petrol station to check and find out that the tyre pressure was 300kpaso i reduced it to 220kpa as recommended.. after that it is not so bumpy anymore.. but the riding comfort and sound proof still no way to compare to my previous ride camry..ok i know camry is totally different category with prius so just can't compare with it.. but i just don't expect a 97k toyota car cabin to have the plastic rattling squeaky noise like our old proton car! even my friend's pesona cabin is more quieter and feel more solid than me ..what a shame!! not to mention that we have a very high tech hybrid engine in our car but we don't have and can't have a simple auto door lock security feature which the entry level vios already have it!!! and i've done some research on the internet and find that rattling is a common issue for the gen 3 prius.. another common issue is the smelly air-cond when you first switch it on.. some folks sold their prius just because they can't stand the "salted fish" smell..and it will get worse and worse later on.. this car is totally CBU from JAPAN itself and yet to have such a low quality built! wondering what is happening to the toyota nowadays.. btw i am going to the service center and complain and have them get the job done..wondering anyone here have the same issue with me? if so please share your experience here, tq
*
Why I am not surprise on this complain. First I know everything use in this car are recycle material(almost), so you can't get good quality from recycle stuffs. Second, before I book the PC..I had went through all the forums and stuffs that people complain about this car. So I know what I am expecting...complain like rattling sound can find from the website as follows:-

http://www.greencarreports.com/news/108040...as-mileage-test
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2508498/+560
http://www.tribetoyota.com.my/forum/topic....d=2621&page=159
http://www.examiner.com/article/long-term-...-toyota-prius-c

Well is like eating organic food, tasteless and worst is the brown rice but if you want healthy have to eat it. Now you know why people loss weight by eating organic food(can't eat alot). So come back to hybrid car....want to have a greener environment but can't let go of all those.... how you say it?? I think you guys know what I am talking about....

I had been driving proton car for years...all kind of sounds can be heard from it. To me is, as long as there are no major problem with the car which cause me a fortune and can take me from A to B with good FC. I am happy about it and not to mention it cost less then 100k. Want good car, go for BMW or Mercedes. Ford Focus also not bad, I test drive it before I book my PC. In this world there is nothing 100% perfect. So if you want more perfection, pay the prices and still can't get 100% perfection(maybe 99%...close).

That my opinion, You might not agree with me and I never say I am right but its just my thought Everyone had their own thoughts. I am just sharing mine. whistling.gif

walao...should i changed other model instead of pc?? it's seems like alot issue...
*
Alots of issues?? huh...oh...you meant those rattling, squeaking sounds (recycle plastic rubbing against each other) and silicon smell from aircon (smell of glue which trying very hard to keep those recycle plastic together).

Well, if those are the minor issues which you're referring to or talking about. Yes, you better use another models instead of Toyota hybrid car. If not, it will make your life miserable everyday when you heard those sound and aroma smelling of glue, recycle plastic with paper and rubber. Those painful feeling which I know you will be very hard to bear with.

I vote "Yes" to you to change a different car nod.gif Don't want you to suffer, bro tongue.gif

If you think on the bright side. All those money you save on the fuel every month can ease your pain on those issues than consider PC. If not, forget it. That's my 2 cent. icon_rolleyes.gif brother.......

I totally agree with you, bro. nod.gif

I was facing those unbearable sound from my exora since last week when I start to clean up all my stuffs in there. Those loss plastic gaps generate alots of crazy sound. it will drive you rclxub.gif

But I saw one Australia forum about those sound in their PC and this guy got it fixed by himself. Putting gasket in between those plastic gap and tighten up all those bolt & nuts at the dashboard. Amazing huh... brows.gif Best part is everyone over there in the forum asking his advice and got their fix as well. Cool huh?? There is no problems unfixable, only thing is do you know how to fix it. smile.gif

U guys should strip down Prius C n Prius interior first . Both car got minimum sound proofing to cut cost and weight . Prius more noise due to no bonnet cover at rear . All this can be improve just go to any accessories shop to do the sound proofing want good quality go o autofoam k.l full packages around 2-3k only but cannot do it 1 shot need to go step by step
*
Bro can pm me their address..... drool.gif

Later(updated).....
OK bro, I found their website http://autofoam.net/autofoam/autofoam-benefits/

Total cost around RM 2230 (as you mention) and add weight of 13.5kg to the car after add in those soundproof stuff. Cool.....add in to my PC install list tongue.gif

Can use all those discount money from UMW to addin those stuffs.... hmm.gif

Wxx 6193 your PC, bro?? Fixing AutoFOAM n SP works there.....

I do encounter rattling noise from the passenger side when driving at certain rough road surface, it is not always show up, but quite annoying, I think the assembly quality of this car is not so good
*
Well I think I had found the answer to our problem. Its the cost of Toyota building this car and have not include those stuff to isolate the sound. Watch this video and you might understand what I am talking about....at 4:42 on this video will talk about it. doh.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5E9mjI3y1E&feature=related

You get what you are paying for(actual cost of PC is around RM59k without shipment cost and other stuff for our government & UMW). With that cost, I don't think Toyota will include much thing into the car. So can't complain much. Instead we can improve it(depend on how much we want to spend). unsure.gif AutoFoam?? or something else....

Mine WWY orange going for autofoam next month . Currently my wife drive it try to settle it in 3-4 years and get another facelifted PC for my wife and I drive this first edition model . Usually Toyota will launch new facelifted model in 4 years .
*
My mistake earlier....they have 4 type of packages and you don't really have to take all four. So it will cost less. After reading some feedback from Autoworld forum:-

http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php?sh...t=#entry1816782

I think I'll be checking them out when I got my PC.

So first on my list is tinted(security) then door visor from Venttec follow installation of ScanGauge ii....leave the bodykit a side first....checkout AutoFoam, DIY projects brows.gif and etc tongue.gif all this will keep me very busy on weekend. Hopefully I don't need to travel oversea the next couple of months.... sad.gif

QUOTE(aragongon @ Nov 24 2012, 01:09 AM)
Agreed.

I think the noise is obvious due to high level of quietness in PC. A cough during bed time is always louder than a shout at bus station. Sometimes my TnG tag in passenger drawer generate loud noise, simply the car is too quiet.

The quieter PC is, the more external noise driver can hear. Sound/air deadening will only isolate the driver from necessary noise like nearby motorcycle or car horn.

I don't think assembly quality got problem, our cars are manufactured in same production line, same factory as Japan, US, Australia PC. It is no possible for Inspira-Lancer similar built quality situation.

Camry's value also around RM59k before tax (that's why Camry lowest spec priced RM97k at Langkawi). Unless you agree that Camry is also poorly built, else RM59k is not the reason of assembly quality.

My 2 cent...
*
Actually I have no doubt about Toyota quality, what I meant was Toyota might not include those extra soundproof stuff into PC as comparing with other models due to the cost of the hybrid and other cost factor which we don't know of. And the same time, the quietness of the PC had make us think those are the issues we had, which other model do had but can't be heard due to the noisiness of their engine. doh.gif

Question now is, if we add in those stuff like AutoFoam. Does it make it more quiet and can even hear a insect flying around inside our PC. If it does, then we will have more issues coz we'll hear everything more clearly(as you say "A cough during bed time is always louder than a shout at bus station". nod.gif

Total agree!  rclxms.gif

I think our car built quality is good overall, soundproof may not be part of the car design.

Looking on Proton Inspira/Preve forum first page where they share New Car CheckList list or Things could Go Wrong. I do feel lucky with PC built quality.

No offense to Proton owner.
*
About Proton....is a fact. As a proton exora owner myself, I am very lucky without much problem for the last 3 1/2 years. But my friend was not too lucky. Got his exora turbo a few months back but first mouth already got brake problem and following month engine problem.... those are the kind of problem which I say as major issues....if he are just having only like what we are talking about noise on our PC, my friend will be very happy to hear those noise rather than what he is facing those problem now.

Article from Toyota Hong Kong website:-

Soon after the official debut of the Prius C the "Prius C Longest Drive Challenge" got underway in Hong Kong.

A Prius C with a full tank of petrol travelled throughout Hong Kong from 8am to 8pm during the several days of the Challenge. After more than two days, the odometre reading showes that Prius C had put on a total of 910.8km. of an average of 28km/L.

That's why the Prius C deserves the distinction of being called the "Best of the New Generation of Fuel saving Cars!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BhViZwOQiI...player_embedded

Really can get 900km plus for full tank?? A new record for us to break....rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

What is the best record we had here so far?? 800km+??

If Toyota can organize a Prius C Mileage Challenge for the PC owner, how nice would it be.... rclxm9.gif

Challenge travel from KL to JB(331.8 km) then from JB to Kuantan(361.0 km) and from there back to KL(252.6 km) using 1 full tank....total distance is 945.4km....what you guys think huh??

Well, just a thought..... tongue.gif

Anyway Hong Kong road is not like ours. Their road are pretty straight(highway) and in city have not much up hill or down hill. But I am still wondering how he make through all those traffic jam there. Every three months I have to travel there for meeting and their traffic jam is almost as bad as ours(KL or PJ).

The driver in the video achieve 28km/l for 1 full tank only (aka 910km).

Over here in Malaysia, Engah's record is RM27km/l for 10000km.

If everyone can come to gather and share than we will know how to achieves the better mileage. thumbup.gif
