We run a local based NFC online store selling NFC tags, readers, SDKs and so far the response is really encouraging. So we believe this technology has a potential to grow in Malaysia.

Here is one practical NFC usage. A DIY NFC enhanced phone slip case:

how do i program the nfc tag again? don't mind just a small explanation

You already have an NFC-enabled Android phone and some writable NFC tags I presume. Just search "NFC" in Google Play, there are plenty of apps that can program NFC tags.

One good app is NFC Task Launcher

i think the app tasker can do automated tasks for you.

no need to scan a tag to ask your phone do something.

tasker is an amazing automation app, no doubt.
you can combine it with NFC to make it even better.

think of it as on-demand automation. you tap NFC tag to trigger a certain tasker automation.

for example, whenever I went out jogging, I can tap NFC tag to run my jogging app and play music as well.
tasker alone is not useful because I don't jog everyday, at the same time and I might jog at different places as well.

NIce..

a noob question... can the NFC tag sustain the heat from inside the car? i am planning to use it to activate my bluetooth / gps apps while driving. (ie: stick the NFC tag near the dashboard)

Thank you.

I stuck one in my car, just underneath the radio. It has been there for a couple of months now. So far so good, the chip is still functioning and it is still stuck there. The quality of the sticker helps too I guess.

I wouldn't know if it's still working if placed on top of the dashboard, under direct sunlight. Never tried that.

sure can, it is just a piece of chip, nothing that is not heat sensitive

Every chip has temperature ratings. You can find them in the datasheet.

Do you sell SDK for Linux? I only see you mention Windows API/IDE in your website sad.gif

I'm running Xubuntu 12.04  64bit.
*
Unfortunately we don't have SDK for Linux sad.gif

The reader itself supports Linux though.
Maybe you want to checkout open source libraries like libnfc.org?

You don't need to buy expensive NFC new tags in order to achieve this usages. Just grab AnyTAG NFC Launcher from Google Play, it is free and I believe you will enjoy it.

Link to Google Play Store

btw, I'm author/owner of AnyTAG. Idea/bug report are welcome.  tongue.gif

Nice app! Glad to know that we have local developers working on NFC app.
How do you compare anyTAG with NFC reTAG? I think your interface is nicer.

A Swiss entrepreneur uses NFC to make smarter socks. He puts NFC tags on socks that he sells. A reader would then read the status and send it to iPhone via bluetooth.

Your phone would know which socks belong together, when you bought your socks, how often you have wash your socks.

Ridiculous? I don't know.

Too bad he uses iPhone, which is not readily NFC-enabled thus additional NFC reader is required.

Anyone tried on RapidKL token? can it be use? it doesn't on my Nexus 4
*
It's strange that you can't use it on Nexus 4. The token is using Mifare Ultralight C. Normally it should work with Nexus 4. Did you hear any beep sound or something?

Can i set a particular task to be performed into my rapid token and let either my phone or friends' phone tag on it which then performs the same task ?
*
Those tokens are read only. The tasks are stored in your phone not in the token. The app that you use read the ID of the token and associate it with the tasks. So no, you friend's phone will not do the same task unless you program your friend's phone to do exactly the same tasks as yours.

You need to get writable NFC tags so that you can store the tasks in the tag using app like NFC Task Launcher. With this, your friend's phone will do the same tasks without having to set anything in their phone.
