For IELTS, minimum matters, not the overall average. Hence, you're only band 8, regardless of how high the rest are.

overall = sum of each section / 4

overall still matter .. depend on what u wan

Highest you can get is band 9. Haven't personally seen anyone that got band 9. Highest I've seen is 8.5. Source - I work for the British council.

I'm assuming that TS is taking it for education / PR purposes (since these 2 are most probable). So average isn't really a big deal. Min score matters most in such case, unless of course TS has money to burn just to prove to holypredator that he can score higher.

lol nice guess. Was for education, but it doesn't matter now since I've already graduated. Would have to take it again in a year or 2 if I'm going ahead with my PhD. So if I do take another one, I'll gladly create another thread to kuda about it!

After I finished all my matters with the Dept of Immigration of Australistan, I just chucked all my papers away generally.

Also PhD is pointless if you wanna make money and people are less likely to hire you as they'll assume they'll have to pay you more.

No need for IELTS anymore, I've already passed all the immi hurdles. I don't need IELTS for uni entry anymore and any courses I do after this are free for me as a PhD is the next step.

Plus, I know most people in the industry on a first name basis and they know I speak decent Englands.
