QUOTE(hwa107 @ Jul 28 2014, 01:32 AM) Hi guys, I'm looking for a 5.1 speaker system for my mini home theatre setup, after much research, it came down to the following 2 model: Edifier S550 Logitech Z906 Initially I was pretty much convinced to get the Logitech Z5500, but unfortunately it's discontinued. So I'm kinda hanging around between Edifier S550 and Logitech Z906. FYI, I'm a bass head and will mainly use it to watch movie, second listen to music. So may I know which speaker would you recommend? And why? I have a friend who suggested that always choose wood as speaker material, is it true? Will the plastic material for Z906 effect the sound quality? How about short term and long term? Thank you in advance! go for s760d, z906 really crappy

QUOTE(hwa107 @ Jul 31 2014, 03:16 AM) Thank you guys for giving valuable suggestion. EdifierarslowS760D indeed has better spec, but it's way exceeded my budget. In fact Z906 exceed my budget too, but I don't mind to chip in a hundred or two for better "future proof". I'll just follow ktek suggestion to go for Z906, the DTS decoding feature is a good point and deal maker for me. Oh i didnt know your budget, i thought since u were considering s550, your budget was quite high. I guess for your budget, if you still want a digital input, z906 is definitely your only choice This post has been edited by arslow: Jul 31 2014, 03:51 PM

QUOTE(AminArmani @ Oct 10 2014, 12:30 AM) To anyone who has budget around RM300 don't forget Logitech Z506 as well. This little beast is packed with 3D Stereo and 360 degree 5.1 Surround Sound. Solid build and design, powerful bass with tweeter. Bass is super clean, deep and smooth with crisp clear treble. I bought 5 months ago and so hard to believe only RM330 at PC DEPOT. I use it to listen to music and watching movies. I don't do gaming but reviews online is very positive about it. The sound will fill your entire room. So don't hesitate. reading this post is so funny after reading Lex's comment on the z506...and sounds so much like a commercial This post has been edited by arslow: Oct 12 2014, 04:27 PM

QUOTE(melvintcs @ Oct 13 2014, 12:08 PM) got potential to be a salesman anyway, any good 5.1 system to recommend? i used to love logitech Z5500, but now it's no longer in the market. how about edifier S750? anywhere i can test it? i love Swan M50W too, but too bad it's only 2.1, my budget is around Rm1000 I would say increase ur budget and go for M60 but s760D not bad I guess, its 1999 thou S750 I think EOL ready since S760D is out but im not sure others might know better if its still in production

QUOTE(lex @ Oct 14 2014, 12:42 AM) Exactly, as if reading from a sales brochure directly... You may want to take a look at Edifier DA5000 Pro. By the way, what is the audio source? Is it 5.1 analog outputs from your desktop PC? That HiVi Swans M60 despite its price tag does not have integrated surround decoders for Dolby Surround and DTS formats, unlike Edifier S760D at almost the same price range (of RM2K+). Also the Edifier S760D has multiple inputs including digital ones... that all depends on whether he needs those digital outputs, or else it would be a waste of money to spend on those decoders but don't use them

QUOTE(lex @ Oct 14 2014, 01:15 AM) Would be consider a kinda downgrade (considering the Creative GigaWorks G500 is a much more "expensive quality" speaker). And is your current Creative GigaWorks G500 still working fine? Also what is the main purpose of upgrading those speakers? Is it for better sound quality in music? Looks like his soundcard does have digital outputs. Would be very wasted if he had not used them... ah sorry I read creative straight away I think of the typical sound cards. should have looked up the elite pro b4 commenting

QUOTE(cyberixus @ Jan 24 2015, 09:52 PM) Can someone help me decide between Corsair SP2500 and Edifier S530D? Mostly for music. Sometimes Movie. Never Gaming. Thanks in advance. for my ears, sp2500 beats s530d, the bass in s530d sounds "slow" to me, as in it doesn't react "fast enough"(have no idea how to say this in a better way lol) but in NO way am I asking you to get a SP2500 as that speaker seems to have a 2 year expiry date mine and many other users SP2500 spoiled close to or right after warranty ended, I got sick of it and went for something which cost 5 times more than the SP2500
