I just auditioned the Hivi M200 Mk II today and it was awesome. Definitely entry level hifi quality there. Vocals are really good, clear, crip and sounds "big" like those hi fi sets which costs RM2-3k above. Dynamic range or separation you might call it is soooo much better than the M50W which sounds "small" and muffled and lacking clarity. If you don't tell me that it's RM709, I would really think it's some RM2k+ HI FI set with a dedicated amplifier and DAC (talking about M200 Mk II)

Ok, since you put it that way, how is Swan D1080-IV if compare to R2700? for me, the D1080-IV get quite balance in vocal and Bass,  Swan M200 have a much richer vocal and detail compare to D1080-IV (but the price is way out of my league, plus i think the vocal kind of overwhelm the bass, but that just personal opinion)..but i havent get the chance the try R2700.. not sure how is the taste of the speaker..

ya ya what icecube say is true. the r2700 should have a better low-er end respond but again if you go after a higher end 2.0 speaker with an 8 inch woofer it should give you more then enough low end withough needing a sub. one of the factor i got the d1080-iv is because of the look of the speaker itself the r2700 look

I would like to sell of my M3300 and replace it with 5.1 speaker system. Maximum I can fork out (not from selling M3300) about RM300, which speakers is the best for movie and musics? in case if the input of recommended 5.1 speakers are spdif, probably i would sell of my Asus Xonar DX as well and use that money to get better speaker.

as long as the size is large enough, then a subwoofer will not be required.
I do not need a subwoofer because my stereo bookshelves are large enough to represent 2 subwoofer
I thought the R2800 comes with 8" woofers? because the R2700 is the one that comes with 6.5" woofers

Thanks for the info. I am still struggling to decide between Hivi Swan M200MKIII and Edifier R2800. Both are unavailable to test in Penang. Now I only rely on reading reviews and listen in youtube  .

Anyone has any idea where i can test these speakers in Penang? Or give advice on both speakers?

BTW, seem like M200MKIII has built-in amp. Is that a big deal if I connect it to blue-ray/DVD player only? Did R2800 has built-in amp?

MKIII, is it really lack of bass? Are you a bass head? Just wondering... I'm not really a bass head but I do appreciate the presence of bass in a music. Especially classic jazz, I think it's not enjoyable without bass. And I do listen to other modern genre. I'm a universal listener so I need a all rounder speaker. BTW, XS 2.1 good for PC usage? They have built in DAC right, better than after market RM 500 DAC?

Hey Guys, its PC fair today, so im thinking of getting a Speaker to replace my Altec Lansing v4121.

Is Edifier C3 a good replacement?

Also im looking at the suggested Edifier mp250, it looks very portable and good for travel use on my laptop.

I have not tried both.

Any suggestions? or should i just get both. haha

Currently have the M50W but was planning to try out bookshelf speakers with the Lepai Amp. Any recommendations for classical music. RM450??? Or would just keeping the m50w be a better choice? Oh right nearfield listening. My bass is like 20-35% of M50W knob turned
