8 points gap after 4 matches, too good to be true, hope the team don't become complacent.

and villa scores again, despite less minutes on field, really tell something about him, hope he can get to the full fitness soon so that villanova
would have less headache with forward line.

barcelona 2-0 granada

from my verdict -

1. thiago ancantara still got long way to become the next xavi

2. messi not so meesi today

3. xavi is a talismanic player. when he's in, the game totally change + he scored crucial goal.

4. messi and villa cought fighting each other..lol

messi performance again not good
valdes made a crucial save
good game from granada keeper
fabregas unlucky could have scored
good performance from song and mascherano
dani started the game not well but made some crucial tackles
xavi and tello change the game
tito need to find solution quickly before too late we just riding on luck right now

good performance from both teams but the victory was just lucky because the red for medel was unfair and tiago handball that led to fabregas equalizer and thanks to david villa super finish towards the end
another bad performance from dani alves, alexis ,alex song and busquets
tito has shown to all cules that he is not afraid to take risks which is good

watch the replay, the lack of puyol, pique is rly killing team...song cant jz fit in the role of defending..
a controversial call on the red card/ handball, rly not a convincing winning and feel bad for sevilla..they at least deserve a draw on the game

Gues i start first, ever since tito take over, what i can say is his approched is a lot different compared to pep.. the team looks not organized well, less tiki taka n always potentially losing the match. Howeva we won all games so far but i really worry the way we r playing currently, some how not convncing enough n i dun really feel we r as strong as before. But i hope tito will prove me he is worthy to create his on name.

Yep, tht right, Vilanova try to do something more difference, to me he must focused more on the defender,i knw Barca alwys hv prob in tht position cz of their style, but i think it turn more worse even if puyol or pique not injured, hmm.. sad.gif but we still win the game..hahah rclxms.gif

winning always a good thing bout the way we r winning currently not convincing enough.. a few times already we have to come back from behind and win. and i'll say that is luck on our side. defenders are crucial, we need to buy more cb especially for a proper replacement for puyol or pique. howeva im more frustrated with valdes, lately i think he wasn't performed at his best, he is sux lately, yes he made some important saves but all the goals we conceded not that tough to at least try to catch/save it. it is more like he just let the ball goes into the net without much challenge against the opponent forward.

And today, Barca will play agains Benfica in Champion lig group stge, but the most importnt thing is, el clasico this coming weekend, waa.. if Barca still plying like 'kucar kacir' and probs with Villa and Messi, how can we win the el clasico? really hurt if Barca loss agains Madrid even if we still at the top in the La Liga. cry.gif hope tonight game will prove they still the best team in the world.

actually there is nothing wrong between messi and villa, they have a normal argument during the game.. it is a normal behaviour. match against sevilla, messi the that assist villa's goal. imo, we actually play ok, just not as organized as during pep, n also less tiki taka. this is also due to many teams already adapt how tikitaka works which is lead to it be less effective. what is important is we hav to tighten our back more and valdes need to stay much more alert and be more reliable. glory barca.

well, tito's approach is kind of more direct, which I prefer, less sideway passes, if you don't shoot, you can't score. we've been riding on luck pretty much now, but can't really take credit off tito, he seems to always got his sub right.

as for classico, puyol and iniesta had been given medical greenlight, so I'm hoping they will be given some minutes on the field tonight. I wouldn't mind for a draw tonight if it means 3 points for next liga match. visca

pique is likely to miss the game, so the backline will probably consists of masch and song, haiz it's gonna be a long night.

i too wish for mvp forward again, but the chances of villa to start, hmm and cesc is in good form now, and iniesta is coming back, it will be interesting to see what kind of lineup tito will use.

Lost track of how many mistakes Valdes has committed in the various Classicos, beaten at near post again this morning.

Barca really need a better keeper.

well, a fair result though we could really snatch a win right to the end of the game. if only montoya and pedro's shot goes in, lol

coming against real madrid with no starter def (alves-puyol-pique-abidal), we are quite solid. on a side note, what's going on with alves these day, it seems like he's been underperforming for quite some weeks now

Dani is out for 3 weeks now.. He's been complacent, i hope, because of the previously non-existent competition in RB.. Not after last night tho.. I think Montoya actually closed down christina better than dani did.. And like u said, so nearly scored all 3 points for us.. Dani should, (after a monopoly of the RB position for 4/5 seasons??) start worrying.. I hope tito plays him more, so dani does not take his place in the team for granted.. After the many games i've seen him played, i've never seen montoya this promising, and it was el classico!!

Other thing that irked me is villa not even getting a chance to play some minutes, he's scored quite a few against casillas, and could have well done it again, at least at a better chance than alexis... I want MVP!!! lol

Well Pique is almost back, with him and Masch at the back, i recall this combo being pretty shaky, but still not as porous as Masch/Song.. I guess its somewhat a stabilising factor at the back, and if we do not drop more than 3 points till new year, we will win the league.. March/April is always the time when we hit our full strides.. Come UCL, bring it on..... thumbup.gif

Added on October 8, 2012, 8:40 pmHope you guys noticed, the better side from Madrid, is actually level on points with us, and in 2nd place solely due to goal difference..

Nice game yesterday...

I thought Barcelona were much better under Pep Guardiola. Sometimes sacking manager is not the best option.

I can understand losing championship to rival Real Madrid but still getting rid of Guardiola is a bit too harsh...

Really hope Guardiola will become United manager in the future.

well montoya prove his worth, i don't know if it's coincidence or anything but the team settles down once dani is subbed out, montoya is not bad himself, handling pk7 with no fear, and knows when to go forward.

yeah, i don't know what tito thinks of villa, but a third sub is not a bad option either, maybe tito wanna settle for a draw tongue.gif, what alexis doing anyway, caught a few offside, then? villa is not that old, given his record this season, i will start him anytime.

well we should be worrying more on the better side of madrid who has equal points with us, falcao iinm is only a goal less than messi and pk7. not saying draw is good enough, but I would kill to have 8 points lead after 7 matches. liga is us to lose, hope to see some consistency for away match, and bartra and montoya given some chance once the schedule is packed.

Hi there.

No Pep didn't get the boot.
He wanted to take a sabbatical.
You should've seen how he has aged in the course of 4 years.
Poor man.

The only club I wouldn't mind seeing him coaching is Man U.
But don't expect him to be like SAF, spending so long there.
He can't even last longer than 4 years at his club Barca.
He is too serious about his job.

well, can't comment much as the technical staff is the one who are with the players all the time, but to see bartra overtake him in term of choices, and to think that tito would even play song/adriano ahead of him even though he is natural cb tell so much about him.

it's fairly good moves for him, besides he's only on loan, he would get the minutes and experiences he sought for at mallorca, and who knows he might come back stronger. all i'm afraid it's going to be botia case all over again.

the case of jds puzzles me more, why he would refuse to leave the club, is he really positive he will be ahead of cesc, iniesta, xavi, thiago, busquets, or song in the list anytime soon?

great game last night, love they playd like tht..

Vilanova: "We scored four own-goals already this season, seems even there we'll break records."

Mascherano: "Goal Celtic? If I don't touch the ball, I think Victor can save it. I was again 'lucky' (smiles)."

Guys, sorry for not updating the topic. Right now I'm on a ship since the second week of Hari Raya. Well, actually its not a ship, it is a barge. And the internet is really damn slow here, that a single Google search will take me ages. This friggin page alone took nearly 20 minutes to load up, with all the adverts. Big sigh.

About our performance, I've got not much to say, as I've missed tons of matches lol. But I did manage to catch up the Clasico. I've gotta say that, as myhotgary pointed out iinm, Montoya is a real gem. I say we can sell Alves to the Russians, and give Montoya the no 1 spot he so deserves next season.

And next I would like to comment is about our defensive crises. Again I hear people saying we should have bought a CB during a summer. Honestly, I don't feel it that way. Yes we have to make do with Masch, and now with Adriano, as our makeshift CB. I'd say, just be happy that our players have the motivation to cover and play outside of their original positions. Although we are leaking goals, at least they fight until the end. Many say, attack win matches, defense win cups. I would say, motivation and drive that win you cups no matter what tactic you play. As long as our team has this quality, I think the team deserve more faith from us.

After all, we are still on top of this glorified two horse league right? We and Madrid, as usual brows.gif brows.gif

A lengthy post, lets see how long this computer will upload this comment to the forum page. Sigh...

A high 5 against rayo.. xavi, feb n villa n ofcoz messi scored in a 0-5 result. Now only 2 goals to beat pele 's record. Cant wait for messi to beat that cocky bast¤¢d ass. Huhu n who knows messi might beat the best record of 85 goals gerad muller.

btw we did not control possession as much as we usually do but we were so clinical and direct when attacking..

yeap, something that hardly can be seen during pep's era. we're playing not that good yet we can squeeze out a win, as to total domination during pep's era but we still cant win it.

at least, bartra is getting more minutes, hell even jds get some too.lol

It was definitely a top 5 worst performance since the Pep era.
It is up there with the Madrid Supercopa in Madrid where couldn't even string 5 passes together.

Busi is needed in midfield especially with Iniesta out.
Problem is that Busi is also needed at CB.

great win from the lad, it's good to see villa scoring again

Villa: "I hadn't scored in two consecutive games for more than a year? Well, it's difficult to score from the hospital."

well too bad adriano is out for 3 weeks, to think that he's knocking out two natural right back for first eleven. lol
my motm goes to villa, though jordi alba is obviously offside tongue.gif to be fair, alba's looking on the official before scoring,

Villa: "Scored 4 of 6 goals this season with leg that has been broken? Apparently they put the screw in the right place (smiles)

So, it seems like Alexis Sanchez not suited to Barca possession game. I believe he's a quality player. Maybe it's just bad patch.

we concede 2 silly goal. rclxub.gif

after this all team will play defensive against barca.
we really need to think how to break the ultra defensive tactic.

play defensive also lah..allow them to attack..then it will open space at the back...but you wont play defensive right? so called..'negative football'.. nod.gif hahaha..just teasing lahl..btw..it is true that alexis sanchez look disconnected with other players..not enough Barce DNA?

we've been riding on luck for most of the match for quite some time now, it will be a good lesson for us. nevermind that, we still top the table thanks to benfica, plus bartra getting more minutes, pique and puyol are returning soon.

our team is 'kind enough' to give them the best 125th birthday gift.

the game with celtic, just admit it.they good.very good.

that matthew guy,he shud get a crown for such superb performance.

in my opinion, the reason why we lose, also the reason why barca is the world best club.

our way of attacking, passing, moving up,strategy,it turn against us in that game.

one thing that i saw in barca lately,we hardly adapt to our opponent style.we stick so much to our default strategy without altering according to the situation

example:matthew thwart alves cross so many times.and what we do in the 2nd half? keep going thru right, and alves keep sending crosses, and matthew keep blocking it.

stop it.change.attack from other direction.its a waste of time, waste of chance.i might work before this,it might work when we win the uefa champions league or whatever, but it isnt working that night.so stop it.

i dont want barca to change.but adapt.adapt to the opponent style of football.to get the best out of it.that night performance, remind me of the loss with chelsea in cham. league, last season.

anyway.what time vs mallorca?

So about 15 more goals to reach 100 with 8-9matches to go. That make messi need an avg of 2 goals at leastfor every matches. Or 5 hatrick. I think 90 goals r stil realistic, 100 seems too godlike. Hehe

even if he beats gerd muller with 86 goals (+1 goal), imo is still hard to beat anytime soon. We are lucky to be able to live in the same era with messi.

in 30,40 years later, I will be able to tell my grandchildren that in my youth, I've seen messi's breaking record one by one brows.gif brows.gif

maybe, IF (and a big if there) pep joins chelsea later on, considering the prospect of getting neymar, we have abundance of attacker, dunno how tito gonna fits them all (villa, pedro, alexis, cuenca, tello) + cesc and iniesta can also play there too + neymar, well my bet is tello and cuenca might following pep's footstep, just speculating tongue.gif

Im eager to c messi break the record but if he play, most probably villa dont score. Villa goal came from free kick and an assist from tello, so imagine if messi play, it is him who will take those chances. So in glad villa play instead, that guy stil a scoring machine, myb ned a bit more time to be more fit n able to start more.
Credit to andriano for the first goal too.

honestly i don't know what else villa needs to do to get his 90 minutes, lol it seems so unfair for him, he's been trying so hard to come back from those lengthy injury.

he's been sacrificing a lot for the team, what to say, the team is built around messi. plus that's now how you use the most profilic spanish goalscorer in your team,

am hoping that he will starts more too. tello and lexus still young, they still got more chance later on

I read somewhere that cesc fabregas wants out of barca?
So, he is nowhere near as good as xavi or iniesta? maybe he should go back to Arsenal on loan.
I thought tito villanova will bring doom to barca but he is doing a great job except the few lost (celtic, rm) but it's small matter only.

Are u just trolling? What source is that u have the news from? Not even goal.com, which is bogus more than half the time, has no such report. He's been phenomenal for us this season, don't know why he would want to leave. He's playing at his most comfortable position CMF, where he picks up the ball facing the opposition's goal, unlike being placed on the wings in the previous season, where he picks up the ball in positions that usually faces away from goal.

Barca really make the best start of the season! Tito really made a good job at his 1st season!

It's not that hard after inheriting a good squad. I would say Pep did a better job in his first season. Losing his first league game and then winning all 6 trophies at the end of the season. But Tito did bring in new changes to their playing style. Hopefully he can find a way to beat those ultra-defensive sides like Chelsea, Inter and RM

Who dont hate the team who beat us down for a chance to win a Champion sad.gif
They did well with RDM but the manager sucks. I would like looking forward Spurs to play in UCL. Although they're not so good

spurs with villa boas? no thanks. however, our potential opponents would be arsenal, porto, galatasaray, milan and shakhtar. people would say galatasaray would impose the least threat. but I don't know, the tournament seems not complete if we don't meet arsenal tongue.gif

I'd have to say, A. Madrid is looking mighty dangerous today, especially their movement patterns and passing.

Falcao will be key in their attacks and defense. If only he can be isolated from the passes..

YEHA!
Watched from the start til the end.
90 goals currently in 2012 calendar year, that's way too awesome for Leo

Atm only might dangerous in 1st Half, while in 2nd half, Barca dominate most of the aspect of the game.

Busquet kinda redeem himself with this goal, falcao really owned him when he scored the first goal. But busquet wasnt a defender to begin with, i also doubt even pique or puyol can do anythng at that tym.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has been diagnosed with cancer.

The news meant that Sandro Rosell cancelled a press conference scheduled for Wednesday, and the club cancelled their Christmas lunch organised for the media. .

In November 2011 Vilanova underwent an operation to remove a tumour from his parotid gland, the largest of the salivary glands, and now the cancer has returned.

great win last night, good to see messi didnt get any action last night, plus this is kind of match we dont want to risk him.

glad with brace by both our hungry forwards, villa scores 10 goals so far from 21 shots, and current top scorer in copa del rey.

alexis finally got his goals, hope he can get the momentum going

Messi, he's truly a genius. He's using momentum and weight to his advantage for the first goal. Only a genius could score a goal like that.

Only a few names come to mind:

Ter Stegen (Moenchengladbach)
Guaita (Valencia)

There's the De Gea rumour, but it doesn't looks likely that SAF will let him go that soon.

Valdes couldn't do better. It was poor defensive performance by Mascherano and Alves. They can't stop the source of the attack.

What on earth are you on?

Valdes is the perfect keeper for us.
He saved our asses many times before.
His 1on1 is one of the best (very important criteria since we play a high line so GK will have a high chance of 1on1 situation).
His foot skills are the best. (very important for build up play and possession).

Which other keeper do you think has those 2 important qualities that is oh-so important for our team?

You want to criticize him for blunders?
Fine. But do remember that every goalkeeper commits a mistake at least a couple of times in 1 season.
Casillas, Buffon and (insert any GK in the world) included.

Poor defensive performance?
It was a poor performance from the whole team.

Please don't blame a player.
Masch - it was an own goal. You want him to try to block the shot or move away?
Alves - he was trying to cover Puyol who tried to cover Pique who tried to head the ball away, far from his position.

If anything, Puyol should be blamed for the 1st goal for the reasons I mentioned above and 3rd goal for needlessly kicking the ball out when he has time and space to play the ball.

And please do not associate match performance with one mistake.

So in your books, Messi could be having a great match, scoring 5 goals but because he had an own goal, you call it a "poor performance" (Masch)?

If you don't get it, let's put Masch into Messi.
Smasch blocked a lot of shots and won a lot of tackles and recovered a lot of balls but because of the own goal, you call it a "poor performance"?

If his 1 on 1 is so good, why couldn't he bail Barcelona out of defeat last year when Ramires and Torres both ran wild at Camp Nou?

I can barely keep count of the mistakes he made in big games - most recent El Classico games come to mind immediately.

In last year's Spanish cup, he failed to recognize the danger and received the ball with a very poor control, leading to the dispossession by Angel Di Maria and conceded a goal. In the next Classico that ended 2-2, he was beaten near post by Cristiano Ronaldo, which was not even a fast ball to begin with, terrible reflex.

An even older El Classico game, he passed the ball to Angel Di Maria (yet again) and let Benzema score within a minute, then there's the Espanyol game some time ago where the same thing happened. What keeper in the right mind will commit these mistakes in a game of such dimension? His distribution is piss poor and his failure to maintain composure when pressured has failed him from time to time.

He was massively overrated or was he overrated to begin with? Nowhere near good enough for Barca as he was only made good by the 10 men in front of him.

No point in arguing here. Valdez opt not to sign the contract extension . We thank him for his services and wish him good luck. Meanwhile, we look for a new keeper. Players come and go. Life goes on

No offense to valdes fan, i respected valdes as he is our main goal keeper, he is a good goalkeeper but not a great goalkeeper. Yes cassilas, buffon are also makes mistake but most of the tym they guard their goal well. Valdes is kinda like barthez, he can be great one match, but terrible in d another.

This season tito playstyle make alot of goals for us but also leave rooms for opponent to counter attack. Judging how many goals we conceded this season, it is clear that valdes wasnt that great. Previous season under pep, we played much more tiki taka n hold the possesion of the ball better than this year, n during that tym valdes really dont need to do anything, but wit tito play style, he is exposed to more attack from the opponent strikers. N he proved himself by just being a good keeper but not great.

Btw i kinda frustrated with this lost as i was hoping we win the la liga title undefeated like juve did lst season. But past is past, hope we perform better nex match, this match luck wasnt on our side. We could hav score at least 4 goals during the first half n win the match. But too bad, n with pique red card, i knew we will lost n we did.sad.gif

Ter Stegen is currently the preferred choice among the members of a Barca forum that I joined. Due to my lack of knowledge of Bundesliga, I am not sure how good is he.

Guaita is my individual preference, due to his La Liga experience and also the players we signed from Valencia tend to do well.

The one with the media speculation is De Gea.

Also got a Japanese: Takefusa Kubo

Players look tired.

Fabregas quite poor first half. Not sure he's injured or what. Valencia play really well so far.

We totally got owned in this game.. Our whole first team played but we they were vastly superior and we rarely see this, but we were outclassed.. They had much more end product with little possession of the ball... I wonder why Roura played all first teamers while he coulda given adriano, montoya, thiago, sanchez and tello/villa a run.. might have obtained a different results.. Likes of sergio, cesc and predrito looked fatigued and disinterested.. they were almost content with a point.. Silver lining is that Valdes got to prove his worth, the saves he pulled off to save us a point were nothing short of magnificent.

Barcelona 6 - 1 Getafe

Sanchez, Messi, Villa, Tello scored for Barca.

A brainfart from Alba allowed a consolation goal for Getafe's Alvaro.

Iniesta scored in the 90th minute, Pique scored in injury time.

Interesting to note that Sanchez scored a grand total of 1 goal in La Liga this season, while young Tello has 4.

Why Barca thread so quiet one.

According to [Sport], PSG is interested to sign Adriano in summer. Would be sad if he leave, he is a good backup for both LB and RB position, and can play at both LW and RW as well. Even more importantly, he score more goals than Alexis Sanchez this season.

On an unrelated note, just want to post some photos in this quiet thread.

Hi guys, been missing for more than half a season now LOL. Honestly, I don't feel like such a football fan anymore, missing so many games.

I'm not sure whether it's been discussed yet here, but I wanna ask people here, has Pep actually [b]signed[\b] the contract with Bayern? Or did he only give verbal agreement via his agent? Either way, its been rumored that Bayern has offered (and Pep agreed supposedly) 3 years contract to him.

I don't know about you guys, but I really feel awkward about that. Its like being sad or something, as when he was here he only accepted 1 year contract. Signing only 1 year contracts with the club of his life, but 3 years for direct competitor in UCL? sad.gif

Oh thanks to sepulse for posting the clasico videos biggrin.gif I knew somebody would do it here. Although one of them has been deleted...

Marca reports that we've reach an agreement with ter Stegen for a transfer in the summer.

Well I'm not sure German players will be able to fit in that well here tbh. And I believe if we are going to buy someone, I'm sure it will be Spanish, or at least a Spanish speaking player.

Already signed.

Pep's reason for the 1 year rolling contract during his Barca days were so that he can quit when he feels he is no longer able to lead / motivate his players. I think it was an admirable act. Most managers would want stability of a long contract, and the possibility of a huge payoff if the club decide to sack them before their contract expire.

Yeah, since then, Adriano has came out to say he wants to continue playing in Barca. But it's hard to resist the big money of PSG. We'll have to wait and see.

I do sometimes. Since Tapatalk can't be used for Lowyat, I access BF instead smile.gif But TBH, sometimes it can be quite depressing reading the comments over there. I think there are too many Peps and Titos, who all think they are better than Roura, Ricart and other staffs.

For example Villa's issues. They keep screaming for him to be played, when it is obvious he couldn't stay 100% healthy since his broken leg, and that the team have to be very cautious on him.

Or that Thiago, Montoya and other youngsters should be given more chances, without them realizing that it has always been our way to promote our youngsters slowly. Except if the talent is Messi ofc.

What I like about the forum is the resident members from other teams, fans of Real, English clubs, Bundesliga, Serie A, even Mexico. Despite some of the banters and heated debates between them, I can see they respect each other, and hence the better atmosphere. Even between resident Man Utd and Liverpool fans. Something that our LYN FL really lack, sadly.

I am not sure who you are referring to but VV is more than a good GK.
If he wasn't he wouldn't have been between the sticks for so long.
I guess you forgot the # times he has saved our asses.

I don't have the stats but I remember last year I saw one stat saying that VV had a better ratio than the world class Casillas over a # year period.
Not amount of stops but the ratio. That's gotta mean a lot.

In my mind, VV has a better foot skills that is so important for our style of play and he is one of the best 1 on 1 shot stopper.

QUOTE(JustForFun @ Jan 20 2013, 06:42 PM)

*
Now you're just being selective.
You are just counting a few instances where he was beaten.
Why don't you count the number of times Casillas, Buffon, Reina and Neuer made mistakes too?
I've seen howlers from all of them last season or the seasons before.
Can't really talk about this season as I haven't been watching any football other than Barca.

Like I mentioned earlier, there was a study done with stats showing that VV had a better ratio than Casillas.
It was last season and the season before.

QUOTE

If this was the case, he wouldn't have had to make any saves doesn't he?

As a matter of fact he does have to make saves and most of them were the hardest part for GK's which are 1 on 1 situations.

*
Not quite.

He was more than a coach at Barcelona.
He was attached to Barca. He was a player and now a coach and obviously he loves to club to death.
And besides that, we all know that Barca is not just a club.
It is like a country so he is more or less carrying Catalunya on his back.
That is a massive burden to walk around with.

Lucky that Valdes' leaving for good.
*
I hope that he isn't leaving for good.
Hopefully he will be back in a different capacity.
As a coach or ambassador perhaps.

I guess you have not watched Barca matches since the 90's.
We never had any reliable GK's since Zubi.
We just never had a world class GK.
I was happy with the portuguese #99 Victor Baia but I don't know what happened and he just disappeared.
Hesp, Rustu, Bonano were simply poor.

Rustu was god awful. If you thought VV made a lot of mistakes, try to find old matches and see what the turkish guy did.
Numerous fumbles in the last minute causing us to lose points.

You know what they say, "you never know what you got till it's gone."

Btw, I am not a VV fan. I am a fan of the club first and foremost.
I just can't stand fans who don't just appreciate but taking digs at players without justice.

AC's first goal shouldn't have stood due to handball. This Scotland ref is really kanasai.

With/out the handball, we weren't able to penetrate their 2 banks of 4's anyways.

Their defensive performance was the best I've ever seen.
They stuck to their game plan.
Nobody left their position to pressure the Barca players.

One thing that the Barca might've done was to use the wings more like whenever Messi went RW. It worked but nobody helped him out. He beat 1 man and has 3 in front of him.

I think we can score 3 past them at home but not even 2 if Milan stick to the same game plan which I doubt they will since they have no need to come out and play.

kinda pity valdes.. sad.gif he always conceding goals this seasons.. the way we were playing this season, we somehow cant keep a clean sheet. i gues against milan 2nd leg, we hav to scored at least 4 goals as i assumed milan wil at least get 1 away goal.

agree, being without a manager is a serious deal altho we hv roura to cover for tito. roura is a good manager, his guidance and strategy are fine against smaller clubs, but against big clubs, we need tito tactical plan.

At the starting minutes, tiki-taka played well enough but couldnt last long.
Somehow Jordi Alba keep on attacking and doesnt put defensive at the 1st place, which cause the problem when Counter attack happened.
Well, we couldnt admit that AC Milan and Real played well enough and Barca doesnt play it with desires to win, like years ago.

Yeah, I hope we'll make it against Milan. Besides, we're playing at our own ground.

unlike the 1st leg at San Siro, he was at upper wings and left his position at defending. I saw that he dont pass the midfield line and keep on defensive mode. Well done! rclxms.gif

Please get Mats Hummer next season... El Capitan is not young anymore & masherano is prone error though sometime very good indeed.

Mats Hummer really good with the ball & in the air.. provide better in set piece defending & attacking..

btw... a very good win & let get el classico semi final

What an amazing night (morning).
Not a great performance to be honest.
The players was on fire for the first 10 mins but slowed down after the Iniesta volley until Messi's 2nd goal.

Started bright in the 2nd half again but again in the 2nd part of the half slowed down.

I don't think the players are capable to keep the intensity high like they did from 2008-2011. There were signs last season that they could do it but it has been a long time.

We might beat this Milan side but we will struggle against the German teams or Juve. Let's pray we won't draw Madrid. They will beat us fair and square, again.

Congratulations to the boys.

I am glad my prediction's wrong! xD

I am delighted to get PSG, especially with Ibra supposedly OUT from the first leg! PSG, on the paper, is the second easiest opponent after Galatasaray.

Edit: Ibra is indeed suspended for the 1st leg, but there's an appeal on-going to have the red card (vs Valencia) overturned.

Funny how everybody seem to say that we were lucky to progress for niang had hit the post for if it skewed a little to the right it'd be 1-1, while so conveniently forgetting that iniesta drew a magnificent reflex save from abbiati which then hit the cross bar before sailing out about 15 minutes before that. That could have also made it 2 to the good. Conveniently selective memory. Besides, that was the only clear cut chance they had all game, while pique and alba did pull some magnificent last ditch tackles. We were (required to) playing an offensive game, precisely how good would you expect us to defend? While Masch heading into each challenge at the first chance may have backfired in that instance, but at the same time it was how the third goal was initiated.

Good to see Villa finally smiling like he did when he scored that goal. That is pure joy. Not to mention that he's picked for the NT. If he does play, that should do no harm to his confidence?

El capitan is out again. Fitness seems to be a recurrent issue for him, maybe it is really time for him to call it quits. He's already a legend. It breaks my heart to see him play these days, his feet seem too heavy. But his organising of the defence line, communication, leadership and morale boosting effect is second to none. Usually I would say his top class reading of the game is what still makes him relevant even though he has lost the physical and agility edge, but in the last few matches I've seen him played, that doesn't seem to be the case any more. Positioning is somewhat awful, he looks heavy legged and anybody with moderately quick feet can whizz past puyi with little difficulty. What he still has is the judgement to quickly react to the opponent's flicks/turns/feints and interfere, that is sheer class and cannot be taken away. But I have to say, it breaks my heart to see him play lately. Varane stepped up at Real.. Shouldn't we give Bartra a chance? What do fellow cules think?

We need a solid cb.
Especially when our rb and lb keep going forward.
Puyol seem so slow rite now. I dont really believe masch and pique is not in form rite now.
Maybe its time for puyol to retired. And we should buy a well established cb during the upcoming transfer window.

Yup , Its the right time for Barca to buy new defends as Mascherano always making silly mistake when the opponent pump the ball to Barca territory when they counter . Ex. the latest one is when we defeated Milan 4-0 , Niang the Milan striker almost scoring goal for Mascherano silly mistake . This kind of mistake will kill our chance to Wembley ! Hope Barca will buy 1 or 2 solid defend .. for middlefield n attacking side, we are the best so far ! Vamos Barca ! Forca Barca ! Road to Wembley !

Barca vs PSG ! Hoping we can get good result from away game at PSG ! Win or Draw can be good result as we are very STRONG in Nou Camp ! Hope Catalan will progress to the next round till reach Wembley ! n hopes Tito Vilanova can come back n manage the line up as Jordi line-up is the worse line-up i see so far ! When we defeated to Milan .. at the middlefield there are 4 middlefield as Messi also support at centre , Xavi Iniesta Febs n Messi n only Pedro at striker position ! Easy for Milan defender ! Really wanna see MVP line-up this time again against PSG !

The management seems not to trust our current and previous batch of young defenders. The likes of Fontas and Bartra are not getting much game time. While Botia has proven himself in another La Liga club, but we did not pursue the buy-back option for him which was rather cheap. With no particularly impressive centre back in Barca B squad now, I guess we are going to pursue an external option in the summer.

Yes, Barca needs to buy a new CB this summer. It's been years since they last bought one. Now we only have Puyol and Pique two real CBs. We don't know if Abidal is coming back to play. Please stop buying CM and asking them to play in CB

QUOTE(myhotgary2 @ Mar 16 2013, 10:08 AM)

*
Excatly!
To the Barca-haters, one chance for the opposition = goals = Barca will surely lose.
As if Barca is incapable of scoring again after conceding.

Look at the way he celebrated. It must've meant a lot to him. It was like the manita goal.

All of a sudden, a lot of people think that Puyol has lost it and it all happened after the slip against Di Maria.
A slip people.
He was actually not quite himself this season but the way people over exaggerate after that slip is amazing.

The bad luck charm of Barca scored for Rayo.

Gol Raul tamudo, haunting Barca since his days in Espanyol :/

Edit: Match ended 3-1. Adriano injured in this match. Many chances created, but only 3 converted.

Old-ish news, but a significant one since it involves our talented youth players.

6 Barca youth players banned from competitive matches by FIFA.

QUOTE
Soccer ruling body FIFA ordered Barcelona to stop fielding six foreign players under the age of 18 because their signings don’t comply with its regulations.

South Korea’s Lee Seung Woo, 15, and Cameroon’s Patrice Sousia, who plays in an under-13 category, are among youth-team players who have stopped competing while Barcelona appeals the decision, a club official said by telephone today.

FIFA didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment. Under FIFA rules, soccer clubs can only field minors from another continent if their parents are living in the same country for reasons not linked to soccer.
The Barcelona official didn’t provide details of the family situation of the six children.

The six remain at Barcelona’s famed “La Masia,” or “Farmhouse,” school, which provides education and full-board along with soccer coaching, the official said. About one-third of the 72 children at the school are from outside Spain. The school developed Argentina’s Lionel Messi among other players that helped Barcelona win three Champions League titles since 2006.

Barca in injury-crisis in the defence department. After both Adriano and Puyol ruled out for over a month, now this:

CR became the 1st player to score against all 19 teams in the league last season, iirc.

And Messi already bettered that by doing the same, but in consecutive games. rclxms.gif
