Welcome back.

Can we buy s-reit through amequities?
*
Yes, you can.

https://www.amequities.com.my/foreign-investing-services

But the fee is very expensive (expensive compared to say IBKR, Futu/Moomoo, Tiger or SG brokers). One upside of buying via local broker I can think of is estate planning (if anything happens to you), this has been a popular topic in this forum recently.

According to the link above, online SGX trade cost 25 SGD minimum (0.25-0.35% commission).

For now IB with hold the correct tax. So not worried. That's the beauty of IB. They are smart enough to know how much tax to with hold and don't blindly with hold the full amount.
*
How come? Takudan reported on IB thread that her Swiss stocks WHT is fully deducted without considering tax treaties.

Is Canada being lenient or they don't have "tax vouchers" yet?

Ahh,....  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  Now, I'm hearing this : Swiss stocks WHT is fully deducted without considering tax treaties.

Thank you, bro, for sharing,...

I think that Ramjade will reply,.... Swiss is Swiss, Canada is Canada,..... biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

laugh.gif to further complicate matters, the tax treaty should be with US and not Malaysia. Since our accounts are custodian accounts, it is US that matters for tax treaty considerations, not Malaysia.

Emm,... no bro,... the nationality of the final beneficiary is the key, not the country of domicile of the custodian,...That's is why,... we need to input our nationality when we first opened accounts.

Why is that fella not replying ?

After I go off here,... I can't debate with him anymore,..... nowadays, quite busy and not much time to log-on.

Haha he busy preparing to write calls tonight.

He mentioned as if Selling Covered Calls is so easy to win,.... he's 'killing' innocent, unsuspected investors with all his writings. I would urge all investors to think carefully before following everything he said.

I have experienced many types of taxes, bro,... and debated with many different authorities,....
*
You help me to debate with IB lah lol I want to have a stake in Nestle, Roche and Novartis, but the tax is putting me off. You debate with IB to chase back your "overcharged" WHT?

As client assets are held in street name Interactive Brokers LLC, tax treaty agreement taken in consideration for this withholding tax is the one between US (IBKR's country of residence) and the country of residence of the company paying out the dividend.

have to check T&C... ideally tax obligations are the customer's... so for an international company with multi national customers... they should have a way to manage taxes properly...

lawyers can't help... need international tax agents...

anyways... I'm quite sure IB is correct... in that they buy for you in their name... and Hansel is also correct... in tax treaties and tax obligations...

hence to get back what is owed with ibkr... you have to file a claim and pay a fee...

had you bought Swiss stocks with a Malaysia broker... the 15% wht would be correctly used

ps... there is no need to fly any where like Ramjade suggested... lol
*
Ok, so IB is not correct lah. In the end it is the beneficiary's country of origin (Malaysia) that matters for tax treaties consideration. I find it not very fair that I need to pay fees if the law of Switzerland etc. already establish a treaty with Malaysia. The cost of getting my fees exceed the amount that I can claim back, not economical... Ridiculous

It is like the treaties are there for no reasons and useless.

Anyone hold Propnex (OYY) here? any view?
*
Asset light business model, strong ROA/ROE and in net cash position. But net profit margin below 10%, only around 5-6%, entry barrier rather low with other competitors like property guru, 99.co etc. in the market.

It would be nice if you have friends in SG to tell you the real estate agency market over there.

QUOTE(Hansel @ Oct 15 2021, 03:11 PM)
How are you, bro Prophet,... thumbup.gif

ESRR's closing price yesterday was $0.465. Now, ESRR is valuing its replacement units at $0.51, and with this, 'no need' to give each ALLT unitholders too many units,.... The way I view it,... ESRR values each ALLT unit as approx 95c, from a total of :-

1) 1.6765 units x 51c = 85.5c.
2) additional 9.5c to be given out in cash.

Any opinions, bros ?
*
So I can see ESR values the replacement units around 10% above their market price, ALLT valued at 95.3 cents while market value is 93.5 cents, 2% above market price.

I don't know what ALLT shareholders think about the 2% above market price offer though. It certainly is already trading around 20% above book value, but the extra 2% looks very small to me. That said, I don't know much about takeover and M&A stuff.
