Which method did you use to delid it?  hmm.gif
*
Vice method. Not that ballsy to go with blade method. Lol.

Water cooling your motherboard?  brows.gif

Thanks bro. notworthy.gif

Yep, will be cooling my motherboard. Got a universal waterblock for the pch/south bridge and a special full block for the MOSFET area. thumbup.gif

Why so clean one your delid?
And any plan for sanding the surface of the chip?
*
Vice method. flex.gif also, I already cleaned up the adhesive residue, only left the staining from the adhesive.

Probably won't bother with sanding the surface of the IHS. But see la how, if I manage to find a small piece of glass then I probably will. Could probably use acrylic as substitute I suppose. Will just need to find scraps or something. haha!

Vice method is clamp and ketuk with hammer?  hmm.gif
*
Yeah, you clamp down the IHS, then place a block of wood (or in my case I used an old hard drive) against the chip then whack the block of wood. You can actually google it up. Plenty of videos online. haha.

Took me awhile to do it though, probably coz I was using a 2.5" hard drive and not a 3.5" one or a block of wood. tongue.gif

Tips to anyone who wants to even try:

Watch plenty of videos and read up before doing it. That way when you actually do it, you won't be as nervous (I wasn't nervous at all whacking my CPU. Thinking back, it was quite crazy and nerve wrecking)

When you do it, get a friend to help. You actually just need their hands to make sure your chip doesn't fly and die.

Watched some video about it. But didnt think about flying cpu before this, lol. Good advice bro. notworthy.gif
*
Haha. No problem man.

Mine nearly fell to it's death, but my brother was there to help me so it didn't fall off the vice. laugh.gif

I've read of some people sending their chips flying. That was either coz they were drunk (I have no idea why anyone would mod while drunk. doh.gif) or they whack too hard.

hmmm... u even improvised, using a hdd instead of wood notworthy.gif
*
tongue.gif yeah. No blocks of wood lying around, but I have a box full of dead hard drives. Hahaha.

If you're gonna use hard drive, a 3.5" hard drive would be safer to use than a 2.5" one coz of the weight and height of the drive when lying flat. Plus, you get more flat surface height on the sides than a 2.5".

My motherboard got a clean up, dust free and capacitor label free.

user posted image

Even Got rid of the PCH heatsink. It's so shiny!

user posted image

Eh, what's that in the reflection?

EK RAM blocks! The only EK thing in my entire loop. HAHA.

user posted image

Also in the picture is my motherboard block, probably the only one in the whole of Malaysia. brows.gif

The PCH can't be left out, so it gets a Heatkiller waterblock!

I haven't got to installing my CPU yet. Checking out a few things before putting it in.
