Silly thing is the company that sent me the stuff left out one item and sent it out today so I have to wait for another part before I can actually continue cutting up my case.
Watercooling parts should be arriving Wednesday.

Tools arrived today. Main item was the countersink I ordered. Need to make some adjustments to the stock countersink holes.

QUOTE(Lucassss @ Aug 12 2013, 10:34 PM) I like how you keep adding parts into your rig like they drop from the sky. Hahaha. It's been a pleasure to watch you burn your $$ bro. My rig feels so empty compared to yours. I dare not even count how much has Mine's only stuffed coz it's a small case. Like how people stuff a Prodigy. Only I'm doing it to a Full-ATX case and board. |

Had some time today, so I cut out a custom PSU bracket for my case, which still needs some finishing work so no photos yet.
Did a test fit and it works perfectly to what I need. Just so you guys know why I needed to custom the bracket, here's a photo of the situation WITH the custom bracket. I can't even get anywhere near this with the stock Lian Li bracket. No way. Not at all possible. ![]() Need to get custom cables made now after fitting the PSU, radiator, mobo and GPU. No space. |

Went ahead and used the paint stripper! I must say, nasty stuff. Burns like crazy on contact with skin. But when brushed onto my radiator, MAGIC. Didn't even have to wait for the 15 minutes specified on the can. lol. Not sure if radiator stock paint sucks or paint stripper too good.
Should have got the stuff earlier. Took me what, 5, 10 minutes tops to fully strip my 360mm radiator to bare metal. Cleaned up the 240mm radiator with the stripper as well since I gave up on sanding it before this. Now both are down to bare metal and just waiting to be lightly sanded to rid of rust spots, primed and paint. Paint stripper is now my best friend for stripping paint. Not going to bother with sand paper anymore. Photo result! ![]() This post has been edited by pristine: Aug 20 2013, 10:08 PM |

Placed an order for custom cables from khfoong81 today. Looking forward to see his workmanship in two weeks or so.
Also, ran out of tape today so didn't manage to paint my radiators. Need to buy tape. |

Did the primer layer for my radiators today. Will leave it to cure and paint the final layer of paint another day.
![]() Also decided that instead of sending my case for powder coating, I'll just paint it myself. Saves me travel time, some money and I know what results to expect. Need to go buy more primer, some high gloss paint and clear coat! Made arrangements to get my acrylic window panel to be laser cut. Now just waiting for the part to actually be cut and sent to me. Going to purchase some MDPC sleeves tonight so I can start sleeving the moment my custom cables arrive. |

QUOTE(SoLeHuDDiN98 @ Aug 26 2013, 06:12 PM) I'm cool with matte finishes. In fact my radiator will be painted a matte black. But for exterior I'm going with a high gloss finish since I'm painting it white. I'm not sure how much the laser cut will cost me actually. LOL. The guy I sent to hasn't quote me yet. He just gave me an estimate of about RM100 or so. |

Not that expensive anyway. Still can afford. haha! Eh bro, you've got the PSU tester device thing right? Might want to borrow from you after I'm done sleeving. Can? |

The weather's been rubbish, with the haze, lack of sun and the occasional rain/drizzle. Can't paint.
Since can't paint, did some patch work for my front panel. No, not patching anything I screwed up. Patching up stock features that I don't need. So apparently the "case badge" for my A05NB isn't exactly a case badge. Can't be removed. It's pretty much part of the case. You can see that I actually scratched it really bad when I tried removing it. ![]() Well, if it can't be removed and since it's metal, I took my dremel and sanding drum attachment. ![]() No more Lian Li. Can't stop there. Patched it up with some steel putty and sanded it down to a smooth flat profile after letting it cure for a day. I think all I needed was an hour for it to fully cure but hey, extra curing time never hurt anyone. ![]() Didn't need the stock led indicator holes either, so.. ![]() All this patching is also another reason why I decided to opt for painting it myself. The powder coater I wanted to send my case to had no idea whether bondo or putty would fail while in the oven. Though I'm pretty sure bondo would be perfectly ok in the oven, I didn't want to spend close to RM 100 on bondo to patch holes and then risk a possibility of it all coming apart at the powder coaters and return to me all retarded. Lots more holes to patch up. I think I should get a sander. |

Didn't have a lot of sun today, but it was out long enough for me to work and the paint to cure enough to handle. Photo of my flat black radiators when I'm done with the finishing.
Also, forgot to share my loot from paint shopping the other day. ![]() Need to go buy one more can of paint and possibly another can of primer though. I ran out of flat black today the moment I was done with my radiators. As for the primer, I'm not completely sure one can is enough. If anyone's wondering what the tube of grey stuff at the bottom is, it's the steel putty I'm using. This post has been edited by pristine: Aug 30 2013, 11:59 PM |

Weather's been quite comfortable to laze around the past few weeks, so no painting could be done. There was no sun!
Since I was stuck indoors, did some sleeving once my package from MDPC arrived after my package of custom cables from khfoong81 arrived. I must say, his cable work is quite good. Excellent quality black plug heads (They feel solid and feel premium enough so I'm pretty sure they're not the cheap kind!), clean crimping and made them exactly the way I needed them to be. So far I've sleeved a 24-pin, 8-pin, dual 6-pins, SATA data, switch cables. Still got quite a bit more to go. The colours that I'll be using: ![]() The yellow is there since I'm using an MPower board that'll be stripped of it's yellow stripes, so I thought I'd give them back in a different way. I've started painting my case as well, no pictures yet since it's mostly just primer or single layer coat. If anyone's wondering whether I painted over the anodized finish, well, I didn't. I stripped the anodized layer before painting. Plenty of mixed opinions on painting on anodized aluminium, so I decided to stripped it to bare aluminium and paint on that. Easier to sand so the paint has more bite as well. Did the anodize stripping at home with some relatively cheap chemicals you can get at the hardware store. Borrowed Uni's bench drill and router to drill a few holes for the side panel and case feet, and re-profiled the countersunk holes of the case. Will be using stainless steel countersunk screws which had a countersink profile that didn't match the ones on the case. Now it's fixed. Can see the ending of this project already. |

Didn't want to mention this earlier because I was afraid I killed my 3770k. But I tested it today, and my 3770k boots, so can tell you guys.
My delid-ed 3770k! ![]() Good for you if you can figure out what I was worried I killed it. Other than that, I stripped my motherboard of its heat sinks so I can blast it with air to clean one of these days. Bye-bye sinks. Won't be needing you any more. ![]() Also, stripped my RAM! ![]() That's actually just one stick. I have three more to go. The glue is tough to remove. Have to use acetone and contact cleaner. |
