It doesn't matter whether REIT up or down like hell elsewhere coz this is a slow & steady biz model. If this is not your cup of coffee, stay away.....

do you know whether if the cash from privatisation / capital repayment is taxable / consider as income in our personal income tax?
*
RM1.90 is not taxable, RM0.20 will be subject to 10% withholding tax. No need to declare entire RM2.10 in your Tax Return

Is there a way to declare it anyway but to show that no tax is due on it, for the purposes of demonstrating that the income stream exists?
*
No need to declare at all in your Form B/BE.

Why?
Because even QE being tapered, it doesn't mean interest rate going up.

Until interest rate is going up and in significant way, then yes, dump all reit.  biggrin.gif

The 0.20 special dividend have 10% tax.. so your calculation must less 2 sen. Your profit will be 0.06 instead of 0.08. If you count this way & add in brokerage, stamp duty etc the ROI is slightly higher than FD rate + risk
*
Regardless of the amt of special dividend, u will receive total cash pymt of RM2.10

Forgot to mention Bsdreit will pay interim div of 4 cents on 30/8/2013 (went x on 13/8/2013)
Dis interim div is not part of RM2.10
Thus, you will receive total RM2.14

You read the proposal?

RM 1.90 in capital repayment
RM 0.20 in special dividend which is taxable

That's all you gonna get.  tongue.gif
*
I dun think they have sufficient $ to pay 0.20 div or RM125 mil
They will reduce the 'sum' in div n increase the 'sum' in capital repymt

I just realized that AUD getting weaker against MYR. If I remember it's was rm3.21/AUD before, now it's rm2.98/AUD.

Could this effect on starhill reit performance because some of the assets are located in Australia.
