Worry about REITS
Consider loan stock
Encorp-la, Malton-la, Pmetal-la n Perwaja-la
The 1st 3 pays 6% interest whereas last 1 pays 7%
The 1st 3 is RCSLS whereas last 1 is RCULS
Maturity fr Mar 16 to Aug 19

RCSLS is totally a different ball game vs REITs, can't just look at its interest paid. It's more similar to warrant, which is highly related to the mother share.
*
At least capital is protected as Co will redeem when mature
Interest is paid quarterly
Plus can enjoy capital appreciation when mother share moves north direction (eg Encorp-la from below RM1.00 to RM1.15 today)

My Jupiter system does not display any info regarding the exercise price and ratio.
Are these LC trading at negative or zero premium by its exercise price and ratio? If yes, then correct, capital is protected. Otherwise, no, it's not protected.

As of yesterday 2 trades above nominal value (nv), 1 = nv n 1 < nv
Yield range fr 5.22% to 8.54%
Plus interest is not tax @ source smile.gif

RCULS subjected to default risk.

So it is different ball game with reit.

Loan stock is more to equities.

Reit, own the property, as long as property is worth, worst to worst is liquidate the property and get back the money.
*
That's y v have RCSLS n RCULS
S = Secured (backed by assets)
U = Unsecured (no assets to back up)
Worst case, u still get back d money

Take Malton as example
Mother = 0.835
RCSLS = 1.00
Upon maturity, Malton will redeem at 1.00 (nominal value)
However, if Malton goes up to 1.20, RCSLS holders have d option (i) to convert from RCSLS to mother share on 1:1 basis or (ii) to request Malton to redeem @ 1.00 (unlikely)

How much interest rate Malton-LA gives p.a.?  notworthy.gif
And its maturity date?
Currently, the LA is trading at 0.990, that really has some protection if the company does not default it in future as you said can redeem at 1.00 when mature.
However, mother share is now cheaper than this LA though.  biggrin.gif
