yeah, although many claims htc support suck but see how they roll out their update faster than others!!! but not many are willingly to wait, feb 2013 ?? by then there might have another update.
*
My HTC DROID DNA certainly does not suck. smile.gif

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Dec 25 2012, 03:01 PM)
They are changing for the better for sure, but they need to put in bigger batteries in their phones. The Droid DNA/J Butterfly is a monster in specs but i dont know how well it will do with only 2100mAh, which seemed like a no-brainer.
HTC's main prob is their marketing... You dont see them do aggressive advertising like Samsung and Nokia does.

Plus, I know this is all true. I have the DROID DNA with me.

My unboxing. Done at MacStudio LYP. biggrin.gif

The point to take from all this is that maH rating isn't the "be all, end all" when it comes to telling the story of battery endurance.

Pardon the skew towards Android and DROID DNA. Just clearing the air from any FUD.

Personally, I'd like some exclusiveness and personality in my devices. I've grown accustomed to how my iPhone 5 works and how smooth it is, otherwise I'd ditch it already since everyone and their grandmas are already using them. Hence my pick for DROID DNA and Lumia 920 here. It's a conversation starter and piques the interest of those who saw these out in the open.

I personally don't like the build quality of the Samsungs, although I lived with an SGS3 for close to 5 months, before I ditched it. Creaky plastic and just like iPhone 5, everyone and their grandmas have them. Same goes to Note 2, and what makes it even worse, even the non-tech-inclined group of people starts gravitating towards it. I do not want to be associated with hipsters, Ah Beng/Ah Lians and the likes.

Again, these are my own personal take on this. Not meant to hurt anyone, but that is how I feel.

i cant find flipboard same app like weave... any other tip for same app like this?

It's either Weave or NewsSpot. Weave has pictorial news but limited sources. I had to use NewsSpot because most of my news I had them culled from Google Reader and NewsSpot can link to that.

You use all devices? If i'm in malaysia, I probably just use one, love Lumia 920 but for simplicity and already used to iphone... just gonna get the 5 even it sucks.  biggrin.gif  If I buy 920, I probably wont carry 3 phones at the same time.

Now in Indonesia, carrying one more useless Blackberry lolx.
*
iPhone 5 for main use. DROID DNA for overseas sims I carry, and there are lots. (T-Mobile for Germany, NZ Telecom for NZ, Telstra for Australia, Orange for France, AT&T and now Verizon, thanks to the DROID DNA itself for the States). Lumia 920 for my second line.

I made 4 purchases already using my Maybank CC card, address line 1 and 2 same as CC billing address, zipcode and state changed to US.

nokia xpress browser is available in nokia collection... its allows to compress data (probably like the way data sense works)
it also can monitor data usage, but not sure if its monitoring only data used via xpress or the whole phone
*
I need a flash-based web browser for watching my Plex movies and TV shows. The app is USD4.99 which I'd rather not spend when I can watch it in a flash-enabled browser for free. sad.gif

Cant imagine how the battery drain would be... i plan to use Maxis 4G LTE once they become available next year.
*
The drain factor is the same when 3G was new at one time and there were less cell towers to ping. The way it works, the device will continuously ping cell towers for 4G LTE data service until it gets a ping response back and draw data connection from that tower. Since 4G LTE will be new in Malaysia, less cell towers = more continuous pings = radio device draws more power to establish data connection back. Once 4G LTE becomes more pervasive, the power draw will decrease since more cell towers are available and less power draw on the radio equipment on the device to connect for data connection.

The same reason why folks drop their connection speed to 2G since EDGE is more pervasive than 3G connection on certain areas. Once you're in city centre 3G is more common and there are no tangible power penalty when connecting via 3G.

No prob. I overcame that 3G power drain by adding another device into the mix: YES4G MiFi. Since it's WiFi by nature, power drains are minimised. Then again, it's like adding another network device, making two network data connection is kinda redundant. tongue.gif

Going to LA on the 2nd of January. Probably will go look for accessories for 920 there. Fatboy wireless pillows or the standard plate. Gonna test out the JBL charger/speaker first before any decision to get one.

The app downloads and updates proceeded but unless you have the Portico update that keeps WiFi alive, your app downloads and updates are running off your broadband data.

The pillow is just exactly that. A pillow. And inside is the charging plate, the same one from Nokia sans pillow. For what it's worth, I think the Fatboy pillow charger is overpriced. I'd rather get the bare wireless charging plate or the wireless charging stand with NFC.

I don't like casings or screen protectors. My black Lumia 920 is naked and I prefer it that way. biggrin.gif

I echo that sentiment. I specifically get the Red Lumia 920 so that I can be seen using it and people know it's a Lumia 920, not a generic case that covers "a" smartphone that may or may not be a Lumia because it does not look like one AFTER it is wrapped in casings. At most, if I wanna use a casing. it must not disturb the original design aesthetics that identifies it as a Lumia 920/DROID DNA/iPhone 5.

My iPhone 5, I use Sector 5 with front back clear SP so that when used, folks know it's an iPhone 5 with the two-tone back retaining the original look. I have previously gone with a clear case for DROID DNA, taken it off and went naked because with the clear case it made the DNA looks generic and covers the red racing stripe accents on the sides that is specific and identifies itself as the DROID DNA. I then went with a leather slot-in pouch, so that it remained protected when not in use. For Lumia 920, I've preordered a PDair Red Leather (yes, the leather is bleached red) slot-in pouch that matches my Red Lumia 920. No case on the Lumia too, again, for the previous design aesthetics and recognition.

I specifically avoid folder-type cases that wraps around a gadget that made the gadget lose its identifiable look and makes it look generic.

These are my personal preferences, and I respect others and their preferred way of protecting their phones.

Nokia's wireless charging plate is USD79.99, Fatboy Pillow USD99.99 and the JBL Power Up wireless charger+BT speaker is USD149.99. Some stores like VerizonWireless store sells the plate at USD49.99, but probably with purchase with a Verizon wireless- Qi compatible phone with a plan.

Urgh. I think at this point, a Fatboy Pillow would be a good idea. I left my Lumia 920 charging on the Panasonic Wireless Qi Charger I had. Left it straight up, and when I returned, the phone has swiveled around almost 90 degrees to the right. Nobody touched it, but later I found out why. The vibrate that the phone gets whenever a FB status, Twitter tweets, email messages and SMSes comes in, is enough to vibrate it and spin the phone to that position, after several notification vibrations. Lucky the Charger pad is big enough to contain the phone in, but imagine the Nokia ones that is kinda tiny to begin with. Fatboy Pillow would've contained it in the pillow itself. Pretty strong vibrate this phone has, and the curved back also means it spins easily when vibrating.

I could've just set it so incoming notification as notification tone only without vibrate, but then having to change it back to tone+vibrate when in my pocket is a bit of a hassle.

I think it's only fair to compensate those who preordered to get that RM150 voucher, NOT those who did not preorder and still manage to get a unit on last launch day. It's already lucky enough that you CAN get a unit without preordering, don't anger the folks who preordered by asking vouchers that are meant to sooth their dissatistifaction.

It doesn't work with the metal pot because the metal pot is conductive already. You can see the charger plate LED light blinking already, which means inductive charger error.

I'm still wondering how does this inductive charging works.
I mean I know the basic principle, like how does the inductive cooker in my kitchen work, but for the wireless phone charger, if we keep the charger plugged to the electricity, but we didn't put the phone on top of it to charge, will it still releasing energy? Where does the energy goes? Or it will sense when there is a phone on it then it will automatically start charging?  hmm.gif
By the way, new sleeping screen feature:

I posted the one using the metal pot with wireless charger plate underneath.

In that YouTube video of yours, the phone detects there's inductive current going but it doesn't charge because that inductive cooking coil does not comply with the Qi standard.

It's taking the "sharing the Windows kernel" literally, right up to how Windows desktop OS behaves, battery indicator-wise. As in Windows battery counter indication jumping up and down as well when you do lightweight and heavyweight activities on your Windows laptop. Exact behaviour? tongue.gif

Guys, mind to share what is your previous phone before getting Lumia 920?

My current phone is HTC Radar and I'm planning to get a white or yellow Lumia 920
*
iPhone 4S changed to Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Nexus as back up, then sold Galaxy Nexus, kept SGS3 for 6 month, then sold it, got DROID DNA. In between that, changed my daily driver from 4S to SGS3, when SGS3 sold, purchased and been using iPhone 5 as daily driver since. DROID DNA as backup phone while traveling (World phone with LTE), then got my first WP8 with Lumia 920. All three phones in possession.

2013? HTC M7? Sony Yuga/Experia Z? Oppo Find 5? Hands-on before decide. biggrin.gif

In a possible related news, is Maxis getting ready to launch 4G LTE? And LTE capable Lumia 920 being one of the first few capable device running on it?
