At certain times when swiping or tapping your fingers on the touchscreen of smartphones, anyone feels a slight pain, tingling, burning or uncomfortable sensation on your fingers? Assuming the fingers are clean and not wet.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I heard of a condition whereby prolonged use of touch screen can cause certain degree of damage to one's finger. How often you use your touch screen?

Perhaps 1 hour per day. I used to play games on the phone quite often previously but don't do that anymore these days. Since most smartphones rely on capacitive touch screens to operate, this will involve the electrical properties of the body as the fingers are conductive. There may be some side effects with prolonged use I guess.

Yes your finger get numb or feel pain it's normal if u are new to touch screen phones.

Fingers, nope. But holding the phone for a long time will feel quite uncomfortable especially when the phone is slightly warm, dunno why.

sometimes i hold the phone too long one of my fingers go numb.. i think its pretty normal.. just try to change position )

Don't use it too much, same goes when you play games on your PS3 or using keyboard/mouse.
Prolonged usage of these things will always cause pain/injury to your hands.
It differs by people too, some will feel pain very fast while some takes a long time to feel it.

Hi yes, I get that, more recently in particular. It's getting to the stage where it's uncomfortable to use the phone. And it's not limited to any one finger. I've tried a few touch phones but they all seem to have an effect so far. I suspect it's the electric field and some people being more sensitive to that than others (without wanting to sound too new age!). In damp environments it's not so noticeable (or after having a shower). It is worse in dry air conditions. The effect is less on an ipad for whatever reason than a nexus 7. And is noticeable on an iphone and android phones, even with the haptic feedback turned off- to the point where I use a stylus now when I can reasonably do so. Some screen covers seem to reduce the effect a bit- the zagg ones especially. Also the otter box defender which covers the screen also makes a difference. I'm seriously thinking about going back to using a blackberry with a keyboard! I thought I was the only person but I met someone else who's also having the same experience. The iphone 5 seems better than the 4s. Not sure if the aluminum casing makes a difference.

If u swipe hard hard, more friction sure hotter and pain lo.

Not touch screen only, if u swipe on any surface very hard for a long period, sure pain also La. Common sense.

it's more likely caused by friction

Get a matte sp. it is smoother can reduce friction between screen and ur finger. my x8 had clear sp at 1st. it was terrible after chg to matte sp. The friction problem, fingerprint problem gone.
