QUOTE(hfi @ Sep 16 2012, 03:05 AM)
I'm starting to think that it is. Without Lucas, our defense seems to second guess itself and we seem very exposed during counter attack. Notice how wide the gap between our defence and midfield ? I think this is due to players like Gerrard and Allen not used to playing as DM. Gerrard is too attack minded and Allen, despite his impressive display, does not like to get into aerial duels - he even messed up a straight forward header today.
*
Lol, can fault Allen, he is too short. He is only 5'6 or something, it is not expected of him to win aerial duels. He is doing a commendable job given that he is so small. But i get what youre saying. we are short of options at the moment. The transfer failure is biting us in the ass already. cry.gif

Bad enough we have to break through the great wall of china just to score a goal, our mistakes at the back is just mystifying. They are not great players and yet they can easily score. Right positioning, right movement. They make it look simple while our attack make it look like cracking a rocket science formula.
*
Yeah, i get your frustration. But Steven Fletcher is quite a great finisher. He scored a lot of headers too last season. He scored against us too for wolves if im not mistaken.

Correct man, his height handicaps him when he plays as a DM. Other teams will notice this and will try to take advantage of that.

Lol, i just realized that he is more or less as short as me.. Haha.

I would love it if we get a wealthy owner to buy us sucess but I wouldn't feel good about it. I despise what Chelsea did but look at their success and man city. I would rather we win the pl the old fashion way..the right way. It seems alittle farfetched in this modern world but I still have the patience.

Anyway, first thing is to sort out gerrard. He is the weak link in the current side. He needs to reinvent his playing style. I always think that he is the best midfielder England has ever seen but his style of play doesn't age well. He is not adjusting. Just compare him to lampard and scholes or giggs. They get older but they also get smarter by adjusting their style of play according to their age. Gerrard is not there yet sadly. He's lost his pace, passing accuracy and shooting power/accuracy so he can't do what he used to do anymore. He was always some sort of a talented magical player unlike lampard who is more limited but use his limited ability to full effect. He need to learn that because lfc's greatest player is also its greatest weakness.

QUOTE(xMika @ Sep 16 2012, 06:24 PM)
I think most of the people here just picks on Gerrard and make the most out of his mistake on passes .. he did made a few long cross forward giving the ball to Sterling .. I watched the full 94 minutes so I know. Don't expect 100% passing accuracy when you try to make an ambitious pass to your team mates ..
*
Yeah i know, he got a lot of criticism because we all know he is better than that. Mediocre performance does not justify the actual Steven Gerrard. We are just concerned that he might not be able to fit into the team. Sure he make good passes forward, but that is what he does. It's his talent and ability and its his job. But the fact is that, when he tries to make those passes and it does not happen as much as it used to, it causes more harm than good to the team. How many times that his mistake leads to actual goal against us. Not just this season mind you. Even when he was at his prime, he did that very often but fortunately back then he was able to undo his mistake by creating or scoring at the other end. Sadly to say, now he does not posses the ability to do that anymore and at times i question his hunger. The team lacks spirit at the moment and Gerrard as the captain is not providing it to the youngsters, not like how he used to anyway. Gerrard is my inspiration, i've been following him since his teenage years, so yeah maybe im a bit harsh towards him but mainly because I scrutinize his performance every single game. Wow..I sound like a stalker hmm.gif I want him to play for a long2 time for liverpool just like Lampard for Chelski and Scholes, Giggs for Manure. Lol, i dont usually call names when addressing the opposition teams but i got a bit riled up. Anyway, that's what i think.

QUOTE(hfi @ Sep 16 2012, 07:09 PM)
The thing is most of us here have seen him play for the past decade or so and he has seen him struggled as CM. He hasn't cut it at both domestic and international level, so there's a strong doubt over his ability to reinvent himself. He had always been a battering ram type of midfielder so it's a bit strange to see him struggling to maintain a certain tactical discipline in central midfield. Yesterday was one of his better game playing as a CM but you have to admit he didn't look quite comfortable playing that deep. His positioning was dubious at times and i didn't think he quite clicked with Allen. Like i said before, there were times Gerrard strayed into Allen's position to a point where they could had been holding hands. Allen didn't have the best of game yesterday by his own standard, and imo Gerrard played a role in that.
*
Yup. with you on that. Allen did at times had to recover several grounds that gerrard left unattended. We need Lucas if we wanna do that. Gerrard seems more lika a liability at the moment.

It feels sad to see an older Paul Scholes still contributing so much to the mancs and Gerrard being thought of as over the hill.

I hope BR comes to his good senses very soon that Gerrard cannot be utilized in his present role, at least not every week. This is the perfect opportunity to use him as an undeclared striker, and let Borini improve his finishing in the meantime.

To be fair to both Borini and Gerrard though, I think our defenders really need to buck up and I include the goalkeeper. Are they focused enough? the answer has to be "no". Are they consistent enough? the answer is even more obvious here!
*
True. We have no spine at the moment. 2011/12's Reina really sucks. We used to have a really superb spine. The old Reina, Carra&Hyppia, Mascherano&Alonso, Gerrard&Torres. cry.gif That was a world class Spine there! A great backbone to build upon. With the current squad, i see none of that. Maybe not yet. Joe Allen is a good start.

you see what you wanna see. Though I think Buttner is a good buy, but still too early to talk highly of him with just 1 good game.

Do you know we scouted & brings in Sterling & Shelvey at their tender age? There is Yesil as well. It's not like our scouts bring in all craps & MU scouts get all the goods.

Added on September 17, 2012, 1:09 amAnyway, I'm looking forward to see Assaidi making his debut on our Europa match. Expecting Henderson & Sahin comes in for Gerrard & Allen.

Suso and Sahin both looked classy, definitely talented footballer. Although Borini didnt score, he made good runs that lead to goals and several great runs to get himself into goal scoring positions, not bad. He is really a bit like Kuyt. Shelvey MOTM. But dont get ahead of ourselves, the defending tonight were horrendous, both us and the nuboyz. Good win nonetheless. Honestly i was more exited bout tonite's match than any of our previous matches because of all the youngsters who started and Assaidi's debut. Too bad cant see Yesil in action yet.

Yup. He just need 1 more year to study technical positioning, 1 more year on dribbling and another 1 more year on finding the target man during crosses. Then it's all gonna be ok. 3-year development plan.  LOL biggrin.gif
*
a very sound plan..On the fourth year, he'll sign a new contract with us for another 4 years. We will start reaping the goods then. lol

suddenly Sir Alex really care about our club. Give Brendan Rodgers time.

Hope its not one of his mind games again. Lol, but i think he is sincere this time around because of the Hillsborough incident and he probably sympathize with BR now (i.e. Liverpool not a threat). Also, a minority of the mancs are being arseholes mocking Hillsborough and he wants to calm the fans of both sides ahead of the clash. Anyway, lets hope we kick MU's ass tomorrow.

I've never been more proud of our boys. Best performance thus season. We were the better team 11,10 or 9 men. Harsh result. We were totally screwed by the ref. Good game united but ur day will come, when SAF steps down a lot of you guys will change allegiance. Then, we will see which are the real fans.

Lol, that's what they do. You shud have seen Malaysia Liverpool supporters club page at Facebook. So many comments by mu fans. In order to comment on lfc's page, they have to click "like" on our page. Lol. What type of fans do that. But I say thanks to those Mancs who liked lfc Malaysia on Facebook. They just wanna insult and spy on us. I dont even care what they do or even bother checking on anything man united, let alone click like on their page. They are Really obsessed with liverpool football club.

Im very proud to be a Liverpool fan today. LFC showed what we can be in the future under BR. I've predicted a loss before the match because i thought we would be outplayed by ManU. Turned out that we were on a higher level than them, so that made me mad that we lost out because of a stupid referee. I actually thought we will win the game because we were surprisingly so damn good. Suso, Sterling, Borini, Kelly, all these youngsters made me proud. They made Kagawa, RVP scholes and giggs look like pussies. Bringing in Henderson was also a good move by BR but the penalty really ruined the game. Dah jatuh ditimpa tangga. The ref really turned the game in MU's favor. Not a good image for the ref today. But what comes around gets around. We will have the favor return to us in the future and United otherwise. The real problem now is injury. Owh and i forgot, GERRARD was the Beast!!!

I am looking at it 20 times, Evans were two legs towards Jonjo. Jonjo were only one leg

F***! the decision should go the other way and the ref had a great angle. Now that just pissed me off. I thought it was a yellow card the most but after lookin at this, Evans was the one who shud be sent off.

but maybe the timing was a bit off cuz at that point we are in our best shape and evra couldn't manage to bomb forward
*
I think BR just wanted to provide some protection for the back four at that stage. remember, we were already down to 10 men by then. So safety probably the best option. The team still needed work though. Some synergy among the players still needed. Agger clashing with Johnson to tackle Valencia is just stupid. One should tackle and one keep on running. They panicked there. That resulted in a penalty and Agger stretchered off. bad decision making. Agger shud have tackled and Johnson kept running to stop valencia. Really need a Fit Lucas for a job like this. Now we are faced with more injury problems. An exciting months ahead though, we might see youngsters get the much needed opportunities.
