Apple has a programme to replace iPods that no longer hold a charge (even when out of the warranty period. Below is a cut-and-paste from the Apple support website. The programme is available in Malaysia although I'm not sure how much it would cost here. In the US it's USD59. Not cheap but better than having to buy another iPod I guess....

If your original iPod was personalized by Apple, your replacement iPod will be automatically personalized with same text. If your original iPod was custom laser engraved by another company, your replacement iPod will not be personalized.

How long will it take to receive my replacement iPod?
If your iPod is not personalized, your service will take approximately one week from the date we receive your iPod for service to the date you receive your replacement iPod.
