I'm moving to Form 4 next year. And I have to make a choice neither to take Bio or LK. I'm not good at Science or Math. I have no idea what I want to be too. Help? :(

Concentrate on your PMR first , then think later . It really depends on your interest and capability .

But I have to choose now, I need to give my decision to the teacher soon. Which one is more easier to understand and learn based on your opinion?

Both are considered above average subjects , meaning you'll have to work hard for either of these subjects . I'm taking Biology , it requires reasoning , reading and retaining the facts that you've read and applying it during exams . It's interesting too . Not too sure about LK as it isn't one of my subjects but it is very hard to score . Nobody got A+ for it in 2010 . But if you have good teachers [ examiners / experienced ones ] and is really willing to learn then you're good to go . It's not that you will be good in it if you like drawing , it's different . You'll have to visualise objects in 3-dimensions and draw plans . Your eyesight must be good too .

In my opinion biology requires interest if u want to be good at it. It's mostly about facts and if u read a lot, u'll be able to trace the connections between topics, which will make it fun. I myself am not fond with pure memorizing (some are fun, some aren't!)

bro bio or lk, u know yourself better right..choose one that u like most..later when u get into form 4 and spm ,work hard for the one that you have chosen though it might be hard...if u have a desire to pursue ur tertiary edu in course which specifically (like medicine/health/life science) requires certain subject like bio..then go for bio stream...
actually it's better if u took bio, physics, chem, and add maths altogether for entering uni purpose bcuz you will have more freedom to choose tertiary edu course later...just my 2 cent...

btw i used to be a pure science stream student some few years agoo.. i took all 3 sciences plus add math..spm result not that bad la...but now i am currently pursuing my study in accounting and just have 2 more semester before graduating..and i didnt take prinsip akaun for spm...what i'm trying to say to u now is that if ur not sure yet what to do after school choose all 3 science subjects and add maths first.. smile.gif

true, the options are wider...tbh, that's where the real choice begins if ur aiming for higher educations.

Guys, I think I made my decision. I'm going to take LK instead of Bio. But I'm still taking chemistry, physics, add math and all that. I really hate studying so instead of studying I think doing more exercises is my choice. Thanks for all the replies. Any tips about LK for me? smile.gif

i would have to say LK is easier but of course this is just my personal opinion,
lets see some pros and cons

1) for LK, you need to do a coursework which makes up about 40% or your marks if im not mistaken, (might be wrong, i did my spm a long time ago). you only need to sit for one paper. for bio, you need to sit for three. so by taking LK, you are taking 2 less papers than those taking pure science. so you should have more time to concentrate your energy on this sole paper for that A+ in LK.

2) LK helped me alot in pre-u mathematics, in terms of understanding the concept of tangents, seeing planes in vectors, and made me accustomed to working angles. really helped me understand the concept of higher dimensions.

3) you need to buy the set for LK which is really expensive but you can try to ask your seniors to buy from them second hand

Bio

1) bio is generally a straightforward subject, unlike chemistry and physics which sometimes requires you to solve certain problems. if you have good memorisation skills this is the subject for you. this subject complements chemistry and biology and it'll develop your lab skills for uni. that is if you get plenty of practical time at school. students who study LK normally complement it with TK or something which stands for teknikal something, which is quite difficult according to peaople. my school did not offer this subject.

2) you have to do a PEKA. you get to dissect frogs and burn peanuts.

3) like hatvher said, by taking bio chem physics addmaths, you'll have a wider choice of courses to choose from later on. you can even switch streams to do law/accounting/economics/etc

those are all i could think of at the moment, if i think of anything else i'll add them later. hope this helped. but remember in the end it all depends on your interests and what you intend to pursue in uni. for me, taking LK was like a hobby or a getaway. i really enjoyed taking the subject (maybe because i like drawing), and i still take out my old set to draw sketches in my free time to unwind.

bro during my school time b4, i oso had friends taking LK and TK, i found that they were not having much problems with LK..but TK yes..cuz even when got d spm result..most didn't really scored well for TK...i think those taking lk shud take tk as well rite?? so u shud also be able to bear for the combo..anyway since i didnt take those subjects, i dont have idea at all what all those subjects are hehe..btw if u have strong interest in knwledge, whatever things u learn wont matter cuz u will always work hard for it..

LK does not really require good drawing skills as you will use instruments like set squares, compasses and french curves to draw the curves.
you'll learn to use AutoCAD (computer aided drawing) but that wont come out in your exams, its just a part of your course work.
you will also use a lot of templates for the electrical parts in drawing a plan view of a house.
no free hand drawing is required whatsoever.

Bio Form 4 is not bad...But when it comes to form 5..The amount of memory work is double of that of form 4 Bio..
I suggest You take Bio,if you're the memorizing type..
