QUOTE(Sammich. @ Sep 1 2012, 10:11 PM) i would have to say LK is easier but of course this is just my personal opinion, lets see some pros and cons 1) for LK, you need to do a coursework which makes up about 40% or your marks if im not mistaken, (might be wrong, i did my spm a long time ago). you only need to sit for one paper. for bio, you need to sit for three. so by taking LK, you are taking 2 less papers than those taking pure science. so you should have more time to concentrate your energy on this sole paper for that A+ in LK. 2) LK helped me alot in pre-u mathematics, in terms of understanding the concept of tangents, seeing planes in vectors, and made me accustomed to working angles. really helped me understand the concept of higher dimensions. 3) you need to buy the set for LK which is really expensive but you can try to ask your seniors to buy from them second hand Bio 1) bio is generally a straightforward subject, unlike chemistry and physics which sometimes requires you to solve certain problems. if you have good memorisation skills this is the subject for you. this subject complements chemistry and biology and it'll develop your lab skills for uni. that is if you get plenty of practical time at school. students who study LK normally complement it with TK or something which stands for teknikal something, which is quite difficult according to peaople. my school did not offer this subject. 2) you have to do a PEKA. you get to dissect frogs and burn peanuts. 3) like hatvher said, by taking bio chem physics addmaths, you'll have a wider choice of courses to choose from later on. you can even switch streams to do law/accounting/economics/etc those are all i could think of at the moment, if i think of anything else i'll add them later. hope this helped. but remember in the end it all depends on your interests and what you intend to pursue in uni. for me, taking LK was like a hobby or a getaway. i really enjoyed taking the subject (maybe because i like drawing), and i still take out my old set to draw sketches in my free time to unwind. QUOTE(Sammich. @ Sep 2 2012, 09:00 AM) LK does not really require good drawing skills as you will use instruments like set squares, compasses and french curves to draw the curves.you'll learn to use AutoCAD (computer aided drawing) but that wont come out in your exams, its just a part of your course work. you will also use a lot of templates for the electrical parts in drawing a plan view of a house. no free hand drawing is required whatsoever. |
