Key: P = Province, Z = Zone, W = Nearest Waypoint Alpine Wolf P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Wayfarer Foothills / W: Outcast's Waypoint East of the waypoint at the 'Honor the spirit wolf' heart. Arctodus P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Wayfarer Foothills / W: Vendrake's Waypoint Run straight east until you hit the mountain, then follow it south. You'll find a cave filled with them. The juveniles are at the end (watch out for the veteran!) Black Bear P: Ascalon / Z: Plains of Ashford / W: Adorea Waypoint North of this waypoint, juvenile bears are scattered among the other black bears. Blue Jellyfish P: Kryta / Z: Lion's Arch / W: Sanctum Harbor Waypoint Swim straight south. With the map fully zoomed in, this jellyfish was found to the west of the 'Sanctum Harbor' text in the water. Boar P: Kryta / Z: Queensdale / W: Crossing Waypoint Cross the bridge to the east and follow the road to the right. Don't go far, but climb the first small hill you see in front of you. The juvenile boar is up here. Brown Bear P: Kryta / Z: Kessex Hills / W: Cereboth Waypoint Found west of the waypoint across the river, wandering among the bears. P: Kryta / Z: Kessex Hills / W: Fort Salma Waypoint SW of Fort Salma among the bears, South of the 'Aid Fort Salma' heart. P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Wayfarer Foothills / W: Borealis Waypoint NW of waypoint, in a cave near the 'Honor the spirit of Bear' heart. Eagle P: Kryta / Z: Kessex Hills / W: Sojourner's Waypoint Found north of the road west of the waypoint, flying among the centaurs. Hyena P: Ascalon / Z: Plains of Ashford / W: Decimus Waypoint Slightly east from the waypoint, among the hostile hyenas. Ice Drake P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Wayfarer's Foothills / W: Outcast's Waypoint East of the waypoint and east of the 'Honor the Spirit of Wolf' heart; along the river. Krytan Drakehound P: Kryta / Z: Queensdale / W: Beetletun Waypoint The juvenile is only a few feet from the waypoint, sitting to the left of the tent to the north. If it is not here, there is another juvenile in the large building to the left. Lashtail Devourer P: Ascalon / Z: Diessa Plateau / W: Dawnright Waypoint NE of the waypoint is a field full of lashtail devourers. The juvenile is among them. Lynx P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Snowden Drifts / W: Snowdrift Waypoint Head east along the main road. The juveniles are above the main road, above the 'Hrothgar's Pass' text on the map. Pig P: Kryta / Z: Queensdale / W: Claypool Waypoint Head south through the town. There are juvenile pigs everywhere! Polar Bear P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Hoelbrak / W: Hero's Compass Waypoint Head southwest across the lake and to the shore. Raven P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Wayfarer Foothills / W: Borealis Waypoint Near the 'Honor the Spirit of Raven' heart to the north of the waypoint. River Drake P: Kryta / Z: Queensdale / W: Ojon's Waypoint Follow the lake northeast to the dam where you'll find juveniles among the other drakes. Red Moa P: Ascalon / Z: Plains of Ashford / W: Spirit Hunter Waypoint Head northeast. The red moa are on the eastern side of the gorge, southwest of the purple crystal. Shark P: Kryta / Z: Kessex Hills / W: Kessex Waypoint Head south to Viathan's Arm (the lake). Swim to the very southern end, where you'll find a few juvenile sharks swimming around. Snow Leopard P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Wayfarer Foothills / W: Borealis Waypoint SW of the waypoint, in the area of the heart 'Honor the Spirit of Snow Leopard'; near the heart NPC. Warthog P: Ascalon / Z: Diessa Plateau / W: Blasted Moors Waypoint The juvenile is just northeast of the waypoint. Whiptail Devourer P: Ascalon / Z: Plains of Ashford / W: Duskrend Waypoint The juvenile is just north of the waypoint. White Moa P: Shiverpeak Mountains / Z: Snowden Drifts / W: Torstvedt Waypoint Head southwest toward the path heading west. When this path meets the main road, keep an eye out for the juvenile. http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/34112-...-pet-locations/ |

Right now I amdigging Sword/Dagger <---> Shortbow combo, seems nice for a single target nuke. Testing the Greatsword now, but first impression doesn't give as much as fluency feeling compared to Sword/Dagger (Leap out to evade attack, leap back in YO!!!). GS skill 1 saves lives though.
Shortbow is preferred to Longbow, due to bleed and speed. But thinking of testing out Axe in WvWvW setting, because of the AoE ricochet. Btw, what pets are you guys rolling with? Spider/Cat here. |

Sylvari ranger here! The shortbow is pretty wicked but one of the skills seems like its a bit buggy for me D:
Sword as a secondary weapon set is wicked, especially when you wanna fend off melee attackers and get away to start sniping them again. Trying out the warhorn as my off hand with the sword. Just because calling in hawks to eat the faces off my enemies is hilarious xD |

initially i was thinking of sword/torch combo, but after doing research and play a bit, i think axe/torch has the upperhand.... because we are "ranger", suppose to play with range/throw weapon....

It's a bit buggy sometime, that I am not jumping back far enough or suddenly I am back at the last position. I like the bleed on number 1 though. Send it pet and just snipe-snipe-snipe while bleeding them. The stun/cripple pretty useful for the runners in WvWvW as well. This post has been edited by mistabean: Aug 28 2012, 09:12 AM |

I like the bleed on number 1 though. Send it pet and just snipe-snipe-snipe while bleeding them. Yeah most of the time I just end up exactly where I started even after I go through the jump animation haha! True true, its quite a good approach. Only reason I use the longbow instead of the shortbow is because I absolutely love the barrage. The stun/cripple pretty useful for the runners in WvWvW as well. True I imagine so! I've only tried WvWvW once though. The key is to make sure your pet is the one tanking for you if you're soloing large mobs. And be prepared to keep your pet alive so the mobs don't aim for you! to do this, I've been using the troll unugent. Makes you and your pet's HP regen like crazy. Also, I use a sword/warhorn combo as my alternate weapon set. The sword has skills that let me get away from any mobs that get too close to me and the warhorn lets me call down hawks to attack the mobs. Basically out of my 3 days of experience, thats how I've been dealing with the bigger mobs when there's nobody else around to help. This post has been edited by prthiv: Aug 28 2012, 09:22 AM |

QUOTE(khaiming89 @ Aug 28 2012, 09:17 AM) how u guys cope with large group of mobs? axe/longbow Two ways to deal with it actuallyaxe only hit up to 3 targets... longbow have large barrage aoe... 1) Use Axe. Axe is your staple AoE weapon, with skill 1 hitting 3 targets, and skill 2 a conal AoE. It's not much, but it is something. Longbow is actually a single-target nuke, with Barrage mainly for crippling a large number of mobs (particularly in WvWvW situation), while others are picking them off. Barrage is also useful in PvE to "tag" mobs to you, so that when others killed them, you will get some loot and XP. (If you use Shortbow, Skill 2 [Poison Volley] is the tag method I always use. But both of these are not so powerful AoE methods (i.e you can't aoe nuke like a frost mage in WoW). Single target until they die. But no matter what Ranged Weapon you are using: a) If you are being targeted KITE!!!. Axe Skill 3 is a chill. If you use an OH Dagger, Skill 5 is a cripple. If you are using Shortbow, Skill 3 is a jump-back, Skill 4 is a cripple, Skill 5 is a daze (stun if you hit from the side). If you have spike traps as your utility, use it! b) Swap pets!! If you can, before the first pet die. But with two pets, you can handle up to 3-4 mobs in all honesty. Even moreso if you are using high vitality/toughness pet (though I am using cat, and he hits hard!!) 2) Go into melee. Melee attacks hits in a short cone in front of you, and you can hit upto 3 mobs at the same time. With a cat at your side, you can make short work of the mobs. Greatsword skill 1 chain ends with an evade, skill 4 is a block with counterattack, skill 5 is a daze (stun if you hit from the side). Sword skill 2 is a leap-out, leap-in (great for evading stuff), skill 3 is evade and go behind the mob (though doesn't necessarily hit) while skill 1 chain is a moving and very fluent skill (can give you headache a bit, but nice to move around). TL;DR: Know your weapons, know your pets, and dodge/kite like hell. |
