There is not much obvious reasons to choose the K-5 IIs over other brands. Some people claims that the K-5 IIs is the sharpest APS-C camera in the market at the moment. But no one can confirm how true that is.
But nonetheless, the reasons that sets the Pentax K-5 IIs apart from other brands,
is the TAv mode that allows you to control the shutter speed and aperture and let the camera do the ISO for you. I that case, I get more control over the settings. Is almost like manual. The K-5 IIs is well known for its high ISO performance.
Then it comes to the ergonomics. It just feels right on my hand. Then the low light focusing ability.
Another reason that most people will say, is the ability to use great legacy old manual lenses from ASAHI days. All the legendary lenses that you can use with it. And the camera has a built in Shake Reduction that allows all the old legacy lens to use its advantage.
Can't think of any other things at the moment that really set apart from other brands.
At the end of the day, it really depends on your taste. For Pentax, people either hate it, or they love it. But please note that there is a lot of Pentaxians that are slowly jumping ship to Canikony due to the lack of a FF camera.
Just my half cent worth.
Cheers and happy shopping.......
