It's refreshing to see Pentax deliver what they do best: an excellent DSLR camera that delivers a lot of features and performance without breaking the bank. We've always had a soft spot for Pentax DSLRs and the new K-30 is no different, clearly building on the strengths of the more expensive K-5 model. This is an appealingly well-specified, intuitive, weatherproof and customisable DSLR with few real drawbacks - photographyblog.com

At it's current price (RM2125 - Pentax Singapore for body), it offers:

- Fully weather-sealed body
- Great image quality with the Pentax K-5 sensor fitted into it.
- Pentaprism viewfinder with 100% coverage
- Two e-dials (never existed before for an entry level DSLR)
- 6fps shooting
- Focus peaking function, useful for MF.
- Can use BOTH Lithium Ion battery (free) and AA batteries (with optional adapter, RM35 only)
- In-body image stabilization.
- Compatibility with ALL pentax lenses ever made since the 1970's

Pentax doesn't claim it to be waterproof~
Weather-resistant - yes~

See this:

... As of now... Its the ONLY weather-sealed DSLR around USD600-700~
I got mine for about RM2125/body from Singapore (after conversion from SGD)~

That... is a GREAT DEAL for what it is offering. (Check the specs for more detail)

I hate the Pentax mirrorless K-01, its damn ugly

On the lenses... We don't need a whole armament of lenses now do we? laugh.gif
I have covered the range from 16mm upto 320mm with 3 lenses...
(can be covered by two lenses)

Of all the lenses I have, only one I used the most - which is the Pentax DA 16-45mm f/4 (favourite lens).

The other lenses that I own are mainly Prime lenses (manual focus), which I only use for certain types of photography~

Another thing about pentax - ALL of their previously manufactured SLR lenses from 20-30 years back can be used directly onto their modern DSLR (except screw mount Takumars, which will require an adapter)... These lenses can be found cheap on Ebay~

That means... we have a whole range of usable Pentax lenses from the 1970's upto now.
Note - that we can also use third party lenses too (Sigma, Tamron etc)

K-x was bought April last year~

I was tempted with the low price + bunch of features of K-30, I was thinking of going for K-5 but the focus peaking feature of K-30 attracted me to it -very useful feature for Manual focus prime lenses~ smile.gif

The k-x has and will continue to serve me well - it has officially become my 2nd DSLR body~ laugh.gif

For RM2125 for the K-30 body (or RM2500+ with Weather resistant 18-55mm) from Pentax Singapore...

Its a GREAT DEAL I couldn't resist mate~ biggrin.gif
