hye there JRT pros...gonna join this thread soon....getting my very own russell soon... i'm getting from a breeder...the thing is that the pup is a female...at first i don't wanna let my pup do the neutering surgery...but the breeder say that it's ok and he say that the surgery even benefits the pup instead...(btw if wanna do the surgery how old is the best time for her to do the surgery?) situation 2: i currently have a male shih tsu at home...very tame...the prob is my next door neighbour has 2 chow chow....male and female...both quite agressive and the can jump over the short wall separating my hse and my neighbour's hse...(yes they do jump over to my garden to poop)the female chow chow was getting very aggresive these few months -->killed my rabbit, killed many rats, scared my iguana to death, killed it's owner's hamster. how am i suppose to intro my pup to that chow chow???pls advice ....tq

QUOTE(aragorn2976 @ Oct 17 2008, 08:28 PM) Best time for females to be spayed is around 6 months. Check with your vet. ;-) It is good to spay your pet if you don't intend to have unwanted pups from her. Besides that, the operation has been known to reduce the occurrence of breast cancer in female dogs. As for introduction of pups to the chow chow, it is best to be done in a neutral environment where neither dog (pup or chow chow) is dominant over. Perform the introduction as gently as possible. Watch for the dogs reaction if they intend to be aggressive over the dog. Good luck. JRTs are known to be super active. I'm having a headache with my 10-month male pup who's undergoing "puberty" now. The female JRT is much more quieter. thanks for the advice! QUOTE(aragorn2976 @ Oct 22 2008, 08:20 PM) Hmmmm... The pup is crying to get attention. If possible, turn on the radio and keep the sound level low so that the pup can hear it. I tried this technique with my dogs and it works! The thing is to ignore the crying as it's a cry for attention. If you are toilet-training your dog to pee/poo out of the house (in the garden or etc), better watch out for those "woof" sounds. Sometimes, those sounds are "alerts" to let you know that they need to go toilet! Hope this helps you get more restful nights. thanks for the advice... the thing is that my pup barks when she sees anyone walking past her cage...if i ignore her then she keeps quite later... my pup is going to b 2 months old on 1 nov...isn't it a bit too young to toilet train her?
